Harvey Knibbs does become an Addick
Never in any doubt 😉.

Never in any doubt 😉.
Not sure what that was all about but welcome to The Valley Harvey Knibbs signed for an undisclosed fee tonight on a 4-year deal.
Please click for moreAccording to reports from Reading, Charlton have pulled out of a deal to sign Harvey Knibbs.
A fee of £1.8m was agreed and Knibbs was apparently at the training ground this week, so a little mysterious and a lot disappointing.
Please click for moreThat’s a good move for Nathan, playing a level higher up than he was at Walsall the second half of last season.
Asiimwe has joined Jacko’s League One side AFC Wimbledon on a season-long loan.
Please click for moreA Sunday signing.
Charlie Kelman has signed from Queens Park Rangers on a 4-year deal for an undisclosed fee, which apparently was in excess of £3m, rising to £5m with a ton of add-ons.
Please click for moreK&K. Well, at least it seems one K.
QPR and Charlton today reached an agreement for the transfer of Charlie Kelman according to top level transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. Of course the much more reliable and down to earth source Rich Cawley is now carrying this story as well.
Please click for moreJoe Bennett has been training with Charlton and for the first time he put on a red matchday shirt today appearing as a 60th minute substitute in the 1-1 draw at Cambridge.
Bennett is a free agent and could provide both cover at left-wing-back plus add an experienced head and good counsel to the younger players in the dressing room next season.
please click for moreRich Cawley is reporting that Bolton Wanderers have approached the Addicks to discuss options for Gassan Ahadme.
Bolton manager Steven Schumacher has made it a priority to sign a striker and that could be Ahadme.
Please click for moreWas the name of the young man labelled ‘Trialist’ in tonight’s team sheet at Wealdstone, a game the Addicks won 3-0.
Lembikisa came on at the 60 minute mark as Nathan Jones shuffled his pack and fitted in at right centre back, even though he’s meant to be a right-wing-back.
Please click for moreHere’s a name to conjure with. Sourced by the Daily Mail, according too them we have had an offer turned down for Japanese defender Shinnosuke Fukuda.
This one will confuse those Addicks that think we only do our scouting in Bedforshire, but the 24-year Fukuda plays for Kyoto in the J League
Please click for moreSeven players signed. The club has been quick, strategic and quite stealth like in the summer window.
I always want to see what these guys will be like in a red shirt, but on paper the squad looks much stronger and deeper than it was the day after the play-off final.
Please click for moreOnto the next one, then. North of the border there are suggestions led by Sky Sports that Charlton and Blackburn have had £1m bids turned down by Hibernian for right back Lewis Miller.
The 24-year old Australian is a regular for his national side, and Hibs triggered an contract extension for 12 months back in April.
Please click for moreRob Apter has arrived on his bike in Slovenia to become Nathan Jones’ 7th summer signing.
The 22-year old has signed on a 4-year deal for a fee officially undisclosed, but unofficially £2m plus add-ons.
Please click for moreIt’s exciting, right?
Six years ago in the exact same position we had just convinced Jason Pearce and Jonny Williams to sign new contracts, this only after Roland Duchatelet did a u-turn over Lee Bowyer’s contract. Joe Aribo had just left and Duchatelet was behind our backs negotiating to cash in on Anfernee Djiksteel.
Please click for moreAnd aboard Sunday’s flight to Slovenia. Question is will anyone else new be at Gatwick to join the squad.
Joe Rankin-Costello becomes Nathan Jones’ 6th summer signing after signing from Blackburn Rovers for an undisclosed fee but said to be in the £750,000 bracket.
Please click for moreI’m liking this rumour. A lot of upside if it happens. Apparently we are ‘lining up a move’ for Blackpool’s Rob Apter.
A right wing back who can play high up the pitch, skillful, tricky, assists, goals, an old fashioned winger crossed with a disciplined defensive virtue.
Please click for moreIt’s a little short on rumours round here, so here’s one to throw into the mix.
According to some sources Blackburn Rovers’ Joe Rankin-Costello is subject to a £750,000 bid from the Addicks. The 25-year old is a right-wing-back that can invert into central midfield.
Please click for moreIf Reece Burke can stay fit then he will be a hell of a signing. How often have we *insert name* said that in previous seasons?
Reece Burke today completed his signing from Luton on an undisclosed fee. He has signed a 2-year contract plus a year club option.
Please click for moreRich Cawley has thrown another name into the Hatters…. see what I did there?
Reece Burke was another player that Nathan Jones signed for Luton Town that went on to look comfortable in the Premier League.
Please click for moreYou can ring my…. 🔔
This looks a sensible squad building signing. Left sided centre back Amari’i Bell has signed on a 2-year deal after the expiry of his contract at Luton Town.
Please click for moreThe players returned to Sparrows Lane today for post-summer testing, which I suspect is a little different to the old days when players returned having loaded on a few holiday pounds and smelling of stale cigarettes were told to run up and down the East Terrace.
The first friendly is 9 days away.
Please click for moreOr to give him his real name…. Isaac Tanitoluwaloba Aduraoluwatimileyin Olaofe was today added to Nathan Jones’ Championship squad. Imagine getting his name on the back of your short at 50p a letter?
Olaofe has signed a three-year contract with a club option of an additional year.
Please click for moreLuton Town’s Thomas Kaminski has become the Addicks second signing of the summer. Noted as fee undisclosed, Kaminski has signed a three-year deal.
The 32-year old Belgian has made close to 500 appearances including 38 in the Premier League and 160 in The Championship.
Please click for moreI reckon we may see a little bit of movement this week on the transfer incomings front.
There’s a little pre-season activity in some places and player’s contracts do expire on Monday.
Please click for moreA Friday night rumour to sleep on.
The 25-year old Lewisham born Stockport County striker has scored 36 goals in 121 games for the promotion rivals and Hatters’ fans reckon we are making moves to sign him.
Please click for moreOne can find transfer rumours all over the internet. It only takes a keyboard, a social media account and an empty life but I don’t expect many Charlton transfer rumours to make it out in the open this summer.
Even known sleuth Rich Cawley might find it hard to prise information out of the club, and Nathan Jones is notoriously guarded.
Please click for moreSky Sports are reporting, so a reliable source, that Leyton Orient have turned down a bid from Charlton of £1.3 million for Ethan Gailbraith.
Gailbraith impressed for the O’s in the last two season’s playing 96 times, scoring 11 goals, with 10 assists.
Please click for moreThe steadfast Rich Cawley has linked us with Brighton defender Odel Offiah. The 22-year old of rugby legend Martin, comes with quite the reputation.
Offiah played 44 games last season whilst on loan at Blackpool.
Please click for moreIt has been a busy day at the training ground.
The Addicks announced the signing of a midfield 10 Sonny Carey from Blackpool. The 24-year old will join the club following the expiration of his contract at Blackpool on July 1st.
Please click for moreA real shame, but not surprising to see Thierry Small leave the club today. He and his agent had long held out against signing a new contract and his move to Preston underlines how hard it will be to compete financially with other clubs a level up.
Small signed for Preston North End today on a 4-year deal, and they will pay a ‘training compensation.’
Please click for moreYes, in late March. Where’s Andy Scott when you need him?
Charlton Athletic are pleased to confirm the signing of experienced goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis (more).
Please click for moreTalking Point 🗣️
It is hard to be surprised by the club’s transfer policy, they did tell us. Players to leave because the training pitches weren’t long enough as well as to trim the budget, plus a couple in to help where we were short.
Please click for moreI had been trying to keep an eye on the Addicks last day of the transfer window whilst at a work symposium where back to back meetings only allow breaks for more coffee and a pee.
After a month of inaction it all happened today as the club signed on loan Alex Gilbert and Tom McIntyre, moved out Zach Mitchell on loan and sold REG permanently to Leyton Orient.
Please click for moreYoung Addicks centre-back Zach Mitchell, well thought of by the club’s coaching staff, has moved to St. Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership until the end of the season.
The Bromley born 20-year old will be on a stiff learning curve up there as the Perth side sit rooted to the bottom of the table and have conceded the most goals in the league.
Please click for moreIt’s February and we have the first January window signing. Alex Gilbert (not Gilbey) has signed on loan from Middlesbrough until the end of the season.
Gilbert is an attacking midfielder, but can play out wide or a little deeper. Time will tell if he is a Conor Gallagher or a Lewis Fiorini.
Plese click for moreAllan Campbell has so impressed during his 549 League One minutes that Dundee United have made an offer that Luton Town could not refuse and the Scot has returned north of the border.
Please click for moreAnnounced minutes before kick off tonight. Jones has put pen to paper on an extension that takes him to the summer of 2027. Very positive news is that.
The vice-captain said: “I’m buzzing to sign this contract and I’m looking forward to what the future holds. I’ve loved my time at Charlton so far and I feel like I’ve found a real home here and am playing the best football of my career under the gaffer.”
Please click for moreNot a rumour, not even a whisper, but just a little 2 + 2 cogitation.
Owen Moxon has won promotion in each of the past two seasons, but has struggled to hold down a first team berth in The Championship this season with Portsmouth.
Please click for moreTerry Taylor has moved to fellow L1 club Northampton Town on loan until the end of the season.
This comes as no surprise and I wish him well.
Please click for morePeterborough United have signed Tayo Edun on a permanent deal only until the end of the season.
The defender, who joined the club from Blackburn Rovers in July 2023, made 37 appearances for the Addicks across all competitions, scoring once
Please click for moreStill very light on any transfer news, especially on incomings as we turn the daily calendar over to the 16th of the month.
Terry Taylor, who had a run of games before Christmas before picking up an unqualified knock, finds himself once again on the outskirts of the first team squad.
Please click for moreThe first of the squad out then as 20-year old Nathan Asiimwe has joined Walsall on loan until the end of the season.
That looks a good move to me as Walsall are flying and comprehensively won again earlier today to take the Sadlers 13 points clear at the top of League Two and are promotion certs.
Please click for moreToday marks the 6th day of the January transfer window and rumours whether warm or wildly inaccurate are in short supply.
From an internet scroll only Wigan have been active making three signings, but most clubs have been quiet.
Please click for moreTaking point 🗣️
Back at it tomorrow, and with two games in a space of a few days I hope we can get ourselves moving away from the melancholy position of mid-table (not downwards 😣).
Please click for moreSorry, it’s been a long week.
A no brainer this one and long in the pipeline, Dan Potts(y) signed a short term contract today until January. The 30-year old is a left sided centre-half.
Please click for moreIf you did a heat map of my Blog then the name of Scott Fraser would be in a bright red bubble during these last few months, yet the last time he started a game for Charlton was that dreadful performance at Leyton Orient on Boxing Day.
As expected it was announced early this morning that the 29-year old Scot has left the club by mutual consent.
Please click for moreI don’t know if there has ever been a transfer deadline day where we haven’t seen one player leave or join.
I’m not knocking it as it was such a pleasant change to do our business early, seven of the nine new signings joining the pre-season tour that began on July 7th.
Please click for moreWhat are we going to see today?
Will it be a “super duper phone” day punctuated by loads of fattening snacks? I’m not sure Will Abbott would approve of that. Or will the day pass without any deadline Charlton moves?
Please click for moreThe final week of the summer transfer window started well for Nathan Jones as his old compatriot Allan Campbell signed from Luton Town on loan for the season.
Campbell played 43 times in Luton’s promotion to the Premier League, which was began by Jones and finished off by Rob Edwards two season’s ago.
Please click for moreI’ve written about Kaheim Dixon already (here and here), but today the club announced his signing subject to a few final pieces of his work permit to finalized.
Dixon has signed a 4-year contract and will wear the number 13.
Please click for moreSo, that is one off the wage bill, although Lucas Ness’ pay was not in the same bracket as Scott Fraser.
I am pleased Ness has got his move, and Notts County are a good club.
Please click for moreA few weeks back word came out that 19-year old Jamaican international Kaheim Dixon was expected to sign with the Addicks.
Since then he has been training with the team, but the club have been waiting on a work-permit, but it’s understood that has been sorted and Dixon may be announced as early as tomorrow.
Please click for moreSigned just over a year ago, Terry Taylor has started just two games for the Addicks and looks unlikely to add to them.
Not included in the Carabao Cup squad, Taylor has been added to the list of players that Nathan Jones is content to move on to create headroom for new signings before the month is out.
Please click for moreA mate messaged our chat after 15 minutes. He couldn’t follow the game and asked how we were looking. I told him I’d report back after a further 45 and 3/4 games.
It’s impossible to judge based on one game, but still first impressions count, and it’s hard not to draw some early reflections and assumptions.
Please click for moreHardly surprising that a player that has played 250 Premier League games and more recently sat on the bench for expensively compiled squads earns a lot more than the rest of the Charlton payroll.
The only surprise is how long it took to get to that summation, but the Asmir Begovic to Charlton deal is off.
Please click for moreIt’s a shame that Portsmouth got promoted, we are going to miss those six points this season.
It sounded like a far more promising exhibition today at The Valley, leaving Addicks in a far happier state of mind. Friendlies can bring a lot of misleading expectations, good and bad, but the final one has a lot more forward-looking importance attached to it.
Please click for moreAs socialized yesterday, after passing a medical Harry Isted has moved to Burton Albion for an undisclosed fee.
Isted played 23 games for the Addicks after joining from Luton last summer, although more recognizable for his loan spell at Barnsley.
Please click for morePossibly.
It seems at least that Harry Isted is leaving for Burton Albion on a permanent transfer.
Please click for moreIt’s been very quiet on the transfer front, not even a sniff of a rumour. That was until today.
19-year old Jamaican international Kaheim Dixon is expected to sign with the Addicks. The lightning fast right winger made his Jamaica debut in a Nations League match against the USA in March and has been a regular since playing through their World Cup qualifying and in the recent COPA America finals.
Please click for moreBy this time in 2011 Chris Powell had signed 12 new players. As a reminder they were John Sullivan, Bradley Pritchard, Cedric Evina, Paul Hayes, Dale Stephens, Danny Green, Nick Pope, Ruben Bover Izquierdo, Rhoys Wiggins, Danny Hollands, Michael Morrison and Matt Taylor.
There were 19 in total by the time Powell signed free agent Yann Kemorgant in September after the window shut. The rest as they say is history
Please click for moreThe first of the obvious surplus to requirements loan out yesterday.
Aaron Henry has secured a season-long loan at National League side Rochdale. There is a January break clause.
Please click for moreSo at least that saga is over.
Today George Dobson signed on a free for Wrexham on a two-year contract and he will join them on their Hollywood spin around the U.S.A on their pre-season tour in a couple of weeks.
Please click for moreOut of the blue this one. 27-year old Greg Docherty signs from Hull City on a three-year contract with a club option of a further 12 months (more).
Another Scotsman to join the ranks, Docherty played 90 games in the Championship in Hull’s last three seasons and before that was a key figure in Hull’s title winning promotion from League One in the ‘Covid season.’
