Lyndon Dykes

A lot of fingers are pointing at Birmingham’s Lyndon Dykes as a possible early window signing for Charlton early next week.

The 30-year Scot has mostly been used from the bench by the Blues this season, and has been made available as Birmingham themselves look to spend in the January window.

Dykes is an old fashioned no.9, a battling ram that can link play and create space for others. He would be competition for Miles Leaburn and perhaps a good foil for Charlie Kelman.

What he won’t get you is a load of goals. He has scored 3 in 46 league games for Birmingham, so in both L1 and The Championship. He has though spent almost his entire career after moving down south in 2020, in The Championship.

Dykes would bring hunger and work rate and the huge goal of making Scotland’s World Cup squad.

The tattoo’s remind me of Marcus Maddison, but I hope the similarities end there.

Dykes has 18 months left on his contract, and I suspect this would be a loan with an agreement to buy in the summer.

I ve been reading about him because as you say CA not a load of goals but his work rate is second too none so I also think a loan move would be best to test if he he is good enough to get us a bit further up the league

Honestly can’t see why NJ wants him, as its someone who can score goals from any chances provided reguarly we urgently require not another player who can’t, we have enough of those already! Though if NJ played with a bit more attacking football and at least one winger who can put decent balls into the box on a continual basis, I’m sure some of the forwards would score a few!
Another non scoring forward is defintely not the answer.

I’m not sure about him and feel that he’s not going to make a difference if we decide to explore having him on loan. The only positive thing is he will have to give more than 100% if he’s trying to get himself into the Scotland squad.
I’m not a fan of his.

Well said Mike. What we need are crosses from the corner post not players constantly dribbling from the corner into the box with the sole intent of scoring themselves and frequently losing the ball en-route. With a big guy like Leaburn in the middle with Kelman looking to poach I’m sure more goals will come. Lets be a bit less predictable and ring the changes occasionally

Not a fan of this player .. I can see him wanting more football to get in the Scotland WC squad, but has never impressed although his work rate is good. You can see him playing instead of Leaburn.
We are not going to get a prolific striker from a championship club, unless we spend big money. I would rather have Hardie from Wrexham, if going for loans, although he is different type of striker. We need physically strong wing-backs too with the ability to deliver crosses.

My Birmingham City friends here in the Midlands would love to off load him ” To someone mug enough to buy him ”
I think that probably tells you all you need to know.

Dykes and agree with Mike nooooooooooooo thanks but I suppose we will sign him!!
CA, ok his work rate is good, and that is the least our supporters demand, and not for me, and also not a huge fan of tattoos either, and just my opinion, but to me some of them think they make them look very hard and how many do they want!!
Maddison is currently injured and that would be a good fit for CAFC wouldn’t it, and in any case we could not afford him.

I think the comment about Maddison was the one we had on the books a few seasons back John, not the one at Spurs.
