Lloyd Jones signs new contract
Announced minutes before kick off tonight. Jones has put pen to paper on an extension that takes him to the summer of 2027. Very positive news is that.
The vice-captain said: “I’m buzzing to sign this contract and I’m looking forward to what the future holds. I’ve loved my time at Charlton so far and I feel like I’ve found a real home here and am playing the best football of my career under the gaffer.”
The club also said today that Dan Potts has left the club after the expiry of his contract. Thanks for memories, Dan. Especially the day out I had at Stevenage!
The contract of Danny Hylton has also expired, but he remains at the training ground and will continue his work as the culture minister.

Great news, a two year extension, presumably the delay in his signing came down to the length of the contract, I’d have preferred a three year deal.
We’ve got a couple of young defenders coming through – notably Zach Mitchell and Josh Laqeretabua so we have our defensive organiser and rock while these guys gain experience. Besides that we look so much better defensively with Lloyd Jones in the team, we really missed him in those matches in the autumn when he was injured.
That is great news, we did miss him when he was injured though. We need cover/another CB of his quality.
I’ve said before, my favourite CB in the league is Piergianni @ Stevenage. I’d love us to sign him.
