Jesurun Rak-Sakyi

Well, it is the last week of the transfer window and if it’s silly season in Wrexham, then why not in Charlton Village.

Some Addicks have suggested that JRS is a remote possibility of a last minute loan signing and he would meet Nathan Jones’ criteria of someone than can considerably improve or add real competition to the squad.

I thought this was a pipe dream until I was talking to a Palace mate of mine, who I try not to talk to that often, but he was telling me that JRS has told Palace staff his ideal landing place for a loan is The Valley.

It is thought he is still very friendly with some players, particularly Tyreece Campbell, and was at Wembley to see us beat Leyton Orient.

You’d have thought by now JRS would already have his place of abode for the season already fixed. Or that he would’ve been given guarantees by Oliver Glasner that he will be part of his first team plans, yet even without Eberechi Eze, he wasn’t even named in Palace’s first team squad for their game at home to Nottingham Forest yesterday.

My Palace mate has an involvement with the youth academy over there, but of course what JRS wants will mostly not be what the coaches want.

Then there is the question of how much it would cost Charlton and also frankly, how would Jones utilize him.

He was outstanding in the 2022/23 season for us where he registered 25 goal involvements and won POTY, but as much of a threat he was coming in off the wings, he was less effective playing centrally and not great as a right-wing back if I recall, although he would now be stronger and wiser.

A right-wing back does appear Nathan Jones preferred pick for a final jigsaw piece, and the probability is that it will be a permanent, but Jesurun Rak-Sakyi showing up at Sparrows Lane later this week will definitely set the cat amongst the pigeons.

I would love this to happen he was such an exciting player to watch when last at the valley if he could carry on that kind of form with us this year would be great. On another note CA we got told some great news on Friday was my sons birthday and we got an email to say he has got through to stage 2 in a karting scholarship the prize is worth a cool 25k it’s out of 150 kids he is autistic and up against some really quick kids now in the top 30 so we are buzzing keep up the good work and keep informing everybody as a whole we are doing great.

JR-S would be a wonderful addition whatever his position on the pitch, but I don’t think it will happen, though.

Apparently Palace have made JRS available for loan this season.

I think we’d be interested but the question would be wages – it seems he doesn’t have a long term future at Palace – he has spent two of the last three seasons on loan. I doubt Palace are are going to let him go cheaply to get experience as they did the last time he was loaned to us.

He’s good mates with TC so maybe that might swing it, but other teams could offer better terms.

Yeeha i’ll have some of what you’re taking CA 😉. Not sure how this compliments the summer’s Rob Apter investment who incidentally has been outstanding since his arrival. He was obvioulsy signed with a view to further development into NJ’s view of the finished article. This doesnt hold any water i’m afraid from a loan player with JRK’s existing stature. Still a nice distraction though. !!
