Luton sell Allan Campbell to Dundee United
Allan Campbell has so impressed during his 549 League One minutes that Dundee United have made an offer that Luton Town could not refuse and the Scot has returned north of the border.
Therefore his Addicks season-long loan ends, much it appears to Nathan Jones’ disappointment, but I suspect probably very few others.
Campbell has only signed a contract with Dundee United until the end of the season.

We are just incredibly lucky that Dundee Utd wanted him, as Jones wanted him to stay, but didn’t want to stand in his way of him returning to Scotland! Unfortunately Jones definately still can’t seem to get away from wanting his old Luton buddies at his side, no matter how poor they perform!
We should also thank both the Dundee Clubs for taking Frasier & Campbell, two very poor overated midfielders who no one else wanted, away from Charlton. 🙂
I note that Fraser has made 3 appearances this season!
We can’t continue paying so many players at Charlton just because they are good professionals and train well! We have to have a squad where all the players are capable of actually starting games for us.
Sadly that means players like Allan Campbell and Tayo Edun must be moved on.
Mr Chicago Sir,
Your thoughts on Nathan Jones spat with Keith Hackett? Perhaps Mr Hackett should concentrate on improving the standard of L1 referees rather than encouraging the FA to charge a Charlton player for kicking a corner flag!
Mr Hackett has too much time on his hands and his comment ridiculous….the refereeing at The Valley at times has been very poor and I’ve witnessed the officials making big errors in some games. Its no wonder that managers and players are clearly frustrated on both sides.
Credit to the groundsman who cooly caught the pole with one 🙋♂️…luckily Thiery missed bumping into him 😃
Keith is 80 years old. Time to pack in the officiating from the sofa.
I prefer the original Alan Campbell from the 70s who was 5ft 8 and could out jump any centre back.
A great Charlton player
I’d take NJ’s words with a pinch of salt. If he rated AC that highly he would have played him in some actual games, instead he was a non-playing substitute who was on the bench in case one of Conor Coventry, Luke Berry or Greg Docherty got injured.
Good luck to him – as he was a loanee I doubt we were paying that much for him, but it saves a wage.
We now need to get a couple of players in before the window shuts. We’ve lost two midfielders in this window and if we get an injury or a suspension to any of the above three central midfielders then we don’t have much in reserve, we just Karoy Anderson.
We need to recruit 2 midfielders, but last minute additions of any quality are problematic.
I have been disappointed that U21 players like Kedwell, Enslin and Bower have not featured in the Cup games earlier in the season. The U21s are having a brilliant run of results. But these youngsters cannot be expected to fill gaps in the side at this stage of the season. So how do we solve the problem internally?, as the holding player(s) I would consider Ramsey, Watson and Z Mitchell. As the playmaker I would move Campbell there, also Aneke could drop back into the no.10 role, not ideal but maybe needs must.
I am afraid NJ is continuing to make some questionable decisions and it makes the departure of Taylor to Northampton look very bad.
