One in, one out, one back.

A little disappointed tonight. It is the early hours in Orlando where I have had back to back meetings all day and evening trying to grab quick searches to see how the transfer deadline was going for us.

In hindsight I was happy I kept busy and didn’t sit in front of the computer / social media / Sky Sports.

Well, it is the last week of the transfer window and if it’s silly season in Wrexham, then why not in Charlton Village.

Some Addicks have suggested that JRS is a remote possibility of a last minute loan signing and he would meet Nathan Jones’ criteria of someone than can considerably improve or add real competition to the squad.

Player of the Year

A sign that the season is coming to a close with the voting starting for the Addicks 2023/24 POTY award.

Last season the winner was loanee Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, but I don’t see any loan player, and we’ve had eight, getting even a single vote.

Jes Rak-Sakyi wins POTY

Let’s be honest the best, most consistent, game-changing player won the Addicks’ Player of the Year last night.

The Palace lad was a joy to watch and a credit to himself and his parent club. I’ll be content if those lot from Croydon lend us their next rising star next season.

Rak-Sakyi – POTY?

Jes Rak-Sakyi was today nominated for the EFL League One Young Player of the Season, and deservedly so. Ipswich’s Cameron Humphreys and Plymouth’s Bali Mumba round out the list.

I should also acknowledge Zach Mitchell who was nominated for the L1 Apprentice of the Year. Great achievement.

Plenty of things there today to admire but stunted by some age old issues, but it’s a home win chalked up to send everyone home happy on Easter Monday.

Up to the giddy heights of 10th with the challenge of a trip to automatic promotion chasing Ipswich next.

A most unlikely result that most of us would probably have taken before the game.

Posh score a lot of goals, but have a tendency to let a few in and we can’t keep a clean sheet. Only Peterborough’s third draw of the season, two of those against us!

What will tomorrow bring?

I write this before going to bed in Colorado, and 7 hours behind the UK. Transfer windows, particularly January ones have not been kind to us, and I still have nightmares about ‘super duper’ phones and fake wealthy sheiks bearing big budgets.

At the beginning of this transfer window we were given a whole new management team promising a busy window and one that will have us much stronger by the end of it, possibly enabling us to make a run for the play-off’s.

Bolton Wanderers 3 Charlton Athletic 1

That was the end of a depressing few days as an Addick. In fact the players played with their chins on the floor too.

It was as Ben Garner suggested, a reality check. At least for those that needed one.

Wycombe Wanderers 1 Charlton Athletic 1

A lively first hour petered out in the warmth today in Buckinghamshire, but it was a useful point.

There are statistics, statistics and damn lies, but that was another game with 60% possession but just two shots on target. I was going to say that this squad needs a striker, but I won’t.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi announced

The name of yesterday’s 7th summer signing had been on Addicks’ lips for a while, despite the tongue twister.

19-year old Jesurun Rak-Sakyi has joined from Crystal Palace for a season long loan. The assumption for the delay was that Rak-Sakyi was negotiating a new 5-year contract with our rivals plus the emergence of plenty of competition for the winger’s signature including Cardiff and Birmingham offering Championship football.
