Peterborough United 0 Charlton Athletic 0

A most unlikely result that most of us would probably have taken before the game.
Posh score a lot of goals, but have a tendency to let a few in and we can’t keep a clean sheet. Only Peterborough’s third draw of the season, two of those against us!
We actually played alright first half, you know in that nothing to play for way, and after they went down to 10 men in the 2nd half whilst miraculously Rak Sakyi stayed on, we huffed and puffed a lot but frankly could still be out there now mishitting crosses and getting caught offside.
We were generally rubbish. Misplaced passes, wayward shots and crosses, making Sunday league decisions, moving the ball backwards and sideways. I was surprised Peterborough were so prosaic though. They do have good threats going forward, but they looked like they were there with us with the bucket and spade.
We really do have some poor players, but I am so glad that the January transfer window transformed our season.
As for Rak Sakyi, the only reason we are not in a relegation battle, he was very lucky to stay on after looking to me like he gave Josh Knight a left hook. Knight was sent off for kicking out at the youngster, but the fact the Palace kid was booked means that the EFL can’t re-look at the incident.
How many games left? I can’t take much more of this excitement.
Dean Holden: “It’s never as easy as people think it’s going be when a team goes down to 10 men. I think most of the second half with 10 men, we didn’t quite have enough in front of goal, our finishing was a little erratic.”
Stats (CAFC first): Possession – 55% / 45%; Passes – 398 / 319; Accurate passes – 332 / 226; Shots (on target) – 15 (2) / 7 (2).
Charlton is suffering from a very bad case of LOFT.
Totally agree. If it wasn’t for a battling captain, a fledgling centre back and a patient goalie we would be unwatchable. Pity our captain can’t shoot straight.
You could copy and paste almost any other report, week in week out.
Same as same as……..
Calling these players professional footballers stretches the definition of the Trade Description Act to the limit.
Remind me which beach to avoid.
I’ve gone from thinking that we are not far off of being a good team, to thinking we are so very poor, I can’t bear to watch. What happened?
Last night’s football was so, so, poor. I worry now for our survival without a big injection of money/players.
Doug Morrison
We’ve got strikers who can’t strike; too many players who are simply not good enough and an owner who failed to put his (alleged) money where his mouth is.
Not a bad man. Just clueless.
It really is turning into a miserable season for CAFC fans. The rest of the season our strike force will rely on Bonne (who has looked out of touch since re-joining) and Leaburn who has already had injury problems to contend with in his short career. Rak-Saki and CBR will chip in with a few but it is not good enough.
Kanu should come into the picture, he has improved , despite the stupidity of having to wear the No.9 shirt in the U23s. His best position is playing as second striker and he had a good partnership with Leaburn last season in the U18s.
I watched the U23 game against Cardiff yesterday on You-Tube and saw Harvey Kedwell sustain a very serious injury at the end of the game. I hope he recovers quickly as in my opinion he is the most improved academy player. He is an U18 who has established a regular place in the the U23s.
rierti – I see Deji Elerewe has been moved out on loan to Bromley. He certainly looks to have gone backwards.
