Player of the Year

A sign that the season is coming to a close with the voting starting for the Addicks 2023/24 POTY award.

Last season the winner was loanee Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, but I don’t see any loan player, and we’ve had eight, getting even a single vote.

So, who do you reckon? I’ll tell you my choices:

  • Alfie May ✔️
  • Alfie May ✔️
  • Alfie May ✔️

There is no competition, and the battle will be for runner-up. Alfie has scored 25 goals, 21 in the league, and even in our darkest days this season he has never hidden and has chased every lost cause. It’s a joy to call him ‘one of ours.’

It’s also not worth thinking about where we’d be without those goals. I said the same last year, that Rak-Sakyi dug us out of a relegation battle, in reality May probably saved us from going down.

Actually, 2nd place is a toughie. There’s more candidates post Nathan Jones of course. I’d suggest Dan Kanu, but would expect him to sweep the Valley Gold Young Player of the Year.

I long for a season where we can’t decide on POTY, the last time was undoubtedly the promotion season under Lee Bowyer.

You can vote here, you have to add your fan ID number, which is to stop multi-voting and soppy fans of other club’s voting as was anticipated last year.

You can find your fan ID either on your season ticket or on the ticketing page on the OS. Or it’s very easy to set up.

Agreed, a no brainer easy choice. George Dobson and Lloyd Jones to battle it out for runner up?

    • Yeah I think so. I think Kanu and Small will get votes too. But who else? Thomas maybe. CBT would have been runner up if he had stayed.

Interesting that he hasn’t played more than a hour in a game at Derby yet. Started twice.
