One in, one out, one back.
A little disappointed tonight. It is the early hours in Orlando where I have had back to back meetings all day and evening trying to grab quick searches to see how the transfer deadline was going for us.
In hindsight I was happy I kept busy and didn’t sit in front of the computer / social media / Sky Sports.
Just the expected signing of Collins Sichenje for an undisclosed fee on a three-and-a-half year deal came in, and Karoy Anderson went to Blackpool on loan. Kaheim Dixon was brought back from Crawley after half a season.
It was still 7 January players signed, which is a large influx in a notoriously tough window. More when I get some time but I think we are in a better position than early January.
Nonetheless by May we will be properly in a good position to make a factual based assessment.
There were it seems missed targets and last minute u-turns, and its mystery why clubs don’t act more decisively on days like today. Anderson went out, and his energy and pressing wasn’t replaced. However Jones has been playing him in a holding role, which he wasn’t good enough to do, and it looks like Coady will take that job.
I think we all would’ve liked a creative midfielder, but we are now going to have to go forward with what we have.
Sam Field would’ve been good but he went to Norwich, and late rumours surrounded Ian Poveda from Sunderland, but I see little upside in signing a bloke that has played 16 games in 3 years.
Other Addicks interest was in Atletico Madrid signing ex-Addick Ademola Lookman from Atalanta in a deal worth £30.3m, which at should at some point given us a cash injection.
Jesurun Rak-Sakyi signed for Stoke, and good old Hollywood completed the signings of Davis Keillor-Dunn from Barnsley and Bailey Cadamarteri from Sheffield Wednesday, both apparently on our radar.

Keillor-Dunn is a big miss, double figures in goals for the last five seasons at Mansfield and Barnsley, from midfield!!!
So seven in and I make it seven out. Far too early to know whether this panicked player turnaround will help us to survival, I hope it does.
The Manager who doesn’t like loans, seems to have had a major change of heart
Harry Clarke has been with us a couple of weeks and looks useful. the rest we’ll have to wait and see.
The disappointment for me was not selling Mbick to Brighton. Assuming the rumours of £3-5m were accurate. Micah has never been proven at League 1, let alone Champiomship or Premier. It seemed a good deal for us. Let Brighton take the chance on his development.
The team for Friday evening could look somewhat different.
Yes 7 in and 7 out seems ok thought sam field was a good deal for Norwich we ll see how collins is dont know anything about him but if he s as good as NJ and Rodwell are making out he ll be class I would still like to see Kanu back see if he could step up to championship yes Daggs agree Mbick should have gone to Brighton and let them risk it league 2 to premier league is a huge jump very few have succeeded that feat that’s if the rumours were true in the first place
A bit of an underwhelming day in the end. What we needed we didn’t get, but we did get a 22 year old Kenyan for an undisclosed fee from a second rate club in a second rate European league. Harsh? Maybe. Lets see if our scouts have found a gem. Time will tell. I wish Collins all the best as an Addick, but can’t help wondering how much we paid.
Bit disappointed with the transfer window but appreciate its really hard together top players, but hopefully we can now consolidate and focus on staying up.
As you said CA…”one in,one out…..”…..Oh the hokey-cokey 😃
7 in and 7 out with most of our business done last week. I agree with Anderson out, he is not at this level, energy yes, technically lacking at this level and switches off, the game seems to flow too quickly for him. I would have liked a central midfielder and clearly we missed out on Sam Field. Keillor-Dunn was always going to Wrexham and they have the financial resources to offer better wages etc..
Aribo going to Leicester was interesting, who apparently can pay his quoted 60-70k a week wages.
I welcome the Kenyan lad, will be interesting to see when and where we play him. It’s a step up for him, perhaps Coady will take him under his wing. Our business is done, now we can focus on the target ahead of remaining in this league.
13-15 points , 4 wins and a few draws from 17 games.
How we get them, I don’t care as getting them points is the main and only objective. Then we can reassess at the end of the season. Hopefully we can chalk off some points on Friday night. COYR !

How Charlton FC Won the Race to Sign Collins Sichenje
Charlton faced competition for the highly-rated centre-back. MLS team Colorado Rapids and League One outfit Luton Town reportedly submitted higher offers, but the 20% sell-on clause ultimately proved decisive in securing the deal for the Addicks.
Collins Sichenje’s transfer represents a significant profit for Vojvodina, who acquired him from Swedish club AIK in September 2024 for €400,000.
During his time in Novi Sad, Collins Sichenje developed into a key player, making 52 appearances and scoring one goal.
