Tyler Bindon

Rumours backed by a strong wind are saying that Nathan Jones has acted really quickly to replace the injured Collins Sichenje with a loan move for Nottingham Forest’s central defender Tyler Bindon.

Now, I’ve always been reticent to jump on transfer rumours as fact. The Rak-Sakyi story this week case in point.

I would though keep an eye on the Rak-Sakyi situation this weekend and up until the deadline at 11pm on Tuesday. I feel that story has a few chicanes left in it.

Onto Bindon. The 21-year defender was bought by Forest from Reading in January 2025, but was immediately loaned back to the L1 side for the rest of the season. He won the Royals’ fans POTY.

Back at Forest last summer, he was loaned to Sheffield United after his parent club spent almost £200 million in the window. He played 25 Championship games for the Blades and now finds himself back at the City Ground and probably not going to make their 25-man squad.

Recognized as one of the best young central defenders outside of the top flight Bindon has 28 caps for New Zealand, the home of his birthplace.

He featured in all 3 of New Zealand’s group stage matches at this summer’s World Cup, and in a lovely little pub quiz answer – his Mum also played football for NZ at the World Cup, the only mother and son to do so.

He spent his teenage years in California after his Mum got a job of coaching football/ soccer for UCLA and before joining Reading at 18, he was in the academy at MLS team LAFC.

We’ll see if this rumour ends up on the cutting room floor.

Thomas Kaminski finalized his move to Omonoia Nicosia today. A very short and sweet post announced it on the OS. It is a loan sadly but there is an obligation to buy.

Nathan Jones said today that he is now after three players before the window shuts on Tuesday night.

A right winger is still very much a priority, a central defender to replace Sichenje, and let’s face it, Burke. Plus I reckon a striker..

This window has plenty of more chicanes in it!

Agree with you CA about the Rak-Sakyi situation. He obviously wanted to come to us, but it seems as though the ‘problems’ in the move were due to minor agreements between his agent and us. Probably how much the agent would pocket out of the deal!!!
He is good friends with TC, and his best, and most successful loan period on the field by far, was with us.
It’s also unusual that there are no rumours of anyone else coming in for him yet.
Fingers crossed that the deal is not dead.

I understand the deal fell through after his agent decided he wanted a bigger % of the fee….
I still hope we can get RS before the deadline on Tuesday.

Yep agree with that and that the other rumours circulating are just a shot over the agents bows as it seems like the perfect deal for all parties (other than the agent). 🥵

We’ve got a lot of work to do over the next 48 hours – as NJ says we’re hopeful of signing three players, including Bindon but we need to shift a few players on as well and the footballing community knows that we are not in a strong negotiating position when it comes to trading players in or out.

Tyler Bindon looks a decent signing – he’s naturally left-footed so should be a natural replacement for Amari’i Bell.

I hope that the Rak-Sakyi deal can happen too – who knows whether it’s dead or not, if the story about the agent is true it suggests that something can be worked out.
