There was a Fans Forum meeting last week. Lievan de Turck (LdT) was again in SE7 full of apologies and shrugs.
As for a takeover update, the Aussies (#1) still haven’t lodged documents with the EFL, the British party (#2) “cannot bring the money to the table,” groups #3 and #4 are dead but the International group (#5) “have begun due diligence and are coming to the final stages of that process. The next steps after that are with the lawyers and sorting the contract.” LdT said it is clear the party have the money and a previous experience in English football.
Apparently group #6, the EFL have declined to buy the club, I did read that, and a result RD had to accept it…..
Later last week both Sky Sports and the Daily Mail carried stories that a sale was close. Who knows what they managed to read into the meeting notes but the Mail said the Aussies led by Gerard Murphy are back and want to rubber stamp a deal before the end of June. Hmmm.
Meanwhile Sky Sports pick up on the International Group and say they are in the final stages. Hmmm.
Meanwhile CARD have been busy meeting Belgian government and public officials at their UK embassy in Belgravia.
Counsellor Alain Leroy, who reports directly to the Belgian Consul General in the UK, hosted Charlton supporters. The Belgium Embassy noted Addicks’ fans concerns expressed to them and pledged to report back to the relevant authorities in Belgium, which include government officials, the regional authorities and the police.
Oh Roly will not like that one bit. Look out for a piece of gobbledegook on the club’s website soon.
