It’s the hope that kills you
Struggled today after last night’s disappointment. Hopefully the players are thinking more positively but Sunday is going to need a top Charlton performance, one not just of steely determination and passion, but from somewhere we have to get goals. Pearce’s backside and an Amos big goal kick have provided our only goals in the last 4 games.
On the flip side, it was only a perfect strike from Nolan that broke our defensive stronghold, and Amos again looked confident in goal. We all know what it takes, and I am sure 1,500 noisy Addicks will provide tremendous backing on Sunday afternoon in Shropshire.
It is now apparent that Andrew Muir, his partner Gerard Murphy were both at the game last night with a couple of other unnamed Aussies. With them was Paul Elliott, long thought to be part of Muir’s consortium for new ownership of the club.
If you haven’t read it, then Rick has pieced it altogether here and expects that Muir (second left in the photo) will become chairman, Murphy (third left) chief executive and Elliott vice chairman once the deal is completed, although it could be inked as early as tomorrow.
The number one goal is to rid us of Roland Duchatelet, but still he haggles over retaining the freehold over some land at The Valley. This would require a change in the lease of the stadium and also require all seven of the former director group, which includes Richard Murray’s, agreement to have their outstanding bonds paid up. That doesn’t have appeared to have happened. Yet.
Rumours also tell of Duchatelet insisting on a promotion bonus and incredibly receiving a 10% fee on each of the young academy players sold on a go-forward basis that have been nurtured under his ownership. That has to be BS, please.
The goal on Sunday is to extend the season for one more game. That is borderline as it stands. Nonetheless the biggest goal of all is to get rid of Duchatelet and welcome the Aussies, who impressed those that saw them walking around The Valley last night wearing scarfs and talking warmly to supporters.

If we do get the right results in the next two matches then major investment in the team will be required, lets hope whoever takes over has the resources to fund it .However, I’d be prepared to tolerate more time in Div.1 if it means we are finally rid of RD.

Roland needs to be cut out lock stock and barrel. Any deal where he still owns a stake in the club would be a disaster. If the Aussies either don’t have or don’t want want to pay the reported £40-50m that doesn’t bode well going forward, regardless of whether we think that is a realistic valuation of the club. Remember Marc Goldberg at palace?

Agreed Tex..question, (a) has RD insisted on keeping a stake regardless of the money or (b) are the Aussies unwilling to pay full price and own outright or (c) Sum of both (a) and (b) !..Both Muir and RD are two mega-rich people where even the full asking price would not be much of a stretch. Very strange.
Yes, been saying all along this RAT wanting to ruin this club to the ground and let’s face it he has done a very good job so far and if this is right about some of the freehold to be retained by him and 10 per cent for future sales, surely not and can see them pulling out. Only at CAFC right!!!
