More back room staff leave

And by all accounts not of their own making. COO Brian Jokat, appointed by Thomas Sandgaard fell on his sword last week because he didn’t play well with interference from Raelynn Sandgaard, allegedly.
Raelynn seems to be ‘lady’ with no portfolio at the club and I’m intrigued seeing her influence grow. Today other members of the commercial team were made redundant, some employed recently by Jokat, others hired by Sandgaard.
Dan Burke was one of those to lose his job. The Charlton fan was the Fan Engagement Co-Ordinator as well as the club’s dedicated Fans Liasion Officer, a role that the EFL insist on their club’s having resource for.
Dan did a lot of work with the international supporters groups, and in my experience was always very helpful and passionate about his job.
Thomas Sandgaard has a crucial 8 weeks ahead of him, on the field, bringing in players that gives Ben Garner the best possible chance of success and the supporters belief and aspirations that we deserve.
The back room hiring and firing is making me uneasy and just points me back to the pattern of Thomas not willing, or able to appoint qualified, probably costly, people in key leadership roles and not undermine them.
Oh dear – these actions are the classic signs of Charlton FC being in the hands of a control freak….
From past experience TS has no concept of showing loyalty to backroom staff who during very demanding times produced the results.
I’m aware that there are a few backroom staff who are trying their best but not up to the demands.
Embarrassing past owners did the same, firing and appointing/promoting staff who were not up to the job.
The smooth and effective appointments are vital and we need to look carefully at clubs such as Brentford who transitioned through the leagues with long standing and experienced backroom staff.
The influence of RS can not be underestimated in any way.
Next on the agenda . CAFC to relocate and play their home matches at the County Ground . Both clubs will share the sparrow lane facilities . ( tongue in cheek )
Can’t wait until the new cray wanderers ground is finished that will be a great ground share lol
I know Dan and I wish him.all the best for his future employment….again our loss and another clubs gain…
Well at least the jolly boys outing is going well – sun is shining, he beach looks lovely and the
wi-fi is working well……..
What TS needs to do is appoint a CEO – someone with experience of running either a large football or sporting club and that person has to be from outside the Sandgaard family. That person will be in charge of the club running and non-playing activities such as ticketing, marketing, liaison etc and therefore ultimately everyone should report to them. Then have a separate board with Sandgaard and family on it with the CEO reporting to them at board level.
What we have is TS as CEO and owner and therefore currently everyone reports to him. If his wife is getting involved and has no specific job title then it makes things more complicated, in my experience this sort of interference does not end well.
Spot on SP.
It appears its now becoming a family business with the family wanting to have full control over everything, but with none of the family having any experince in running a Football Club whatsoever!
Anyone who doesn’t go along with the Sangaard way, even if they are excellent in their job are quickly shipped out and replaced by another body, who will toe the line.
I suppose it won’t be long before, Master Sangaard is appointed CEO and Mrs Sangaard is given a job title, of Recruitment Manager, dealing with everyone concerned at the club including the players and which ones to bring in according to the cut of their jib! 🙂
I’m not being political but sounds like our current PM and Conservative MPs !!!!!
TS junior has just been appointed the new CEO .
DD ongoing as he is only 12
Square block in a round hole solution….no experience, jobs for the family.
