Maynard-Brewer loaned to Gillingham

That might explain why Ashley Maynard-Brewer wasn’t in Spain, although I think he was spotted in Australia, The Highlands and Tesco in Dartford.

Another transfer move that swung under the radar today with AMB moving to Gillingham for the season, although the Addicks do have a recall option.

The young Aussie played 17 times for Ross County last season in the Scottish Premiership, and with Gillingham currently goalkeeper-less as all four they had last season have left the club, this is a great opportunity for him to play first team football regularly under Neil Harris.

I have never seen AMB play, but in some corners there was a clamour for him to be given the number one shirt for this season. What I suspect this move means is that Ben Garner will pick between Craig MacGillivray and Joe Wollacott.

Today Jason Euell was announced as Bristol City’s first team coach. He will work with Nigel Pearson, who he played for at Southampton, and assistant manager Curtis Fleming.

Chuffed for Jason, who I knew wouldn’t be out of work for very long.

Complete joke AMB should have been contending for the first team spot at Charlton. He was good enough to play in the Scottish premiership, which is a lot better than 2nd Division English league! Plus he had one of the highest player ratings for Ross County in each game and was only out of the side due to two injuires a broken nose and then a shoulder injury on his return.
Now we have two goalies, exactly the same, both who can’t command their boxes for crosses and corners!

I must admit I’m beginning to lose faith in our player ins and outs a good keeper going out on loan but as you said CA good luck to Jason but it really pisses me of that we have let a good coach go his knowledge of the young players we have would have really helped this season so good luck to him getting a new job so quickly but our loss if Bristols massive gain we’ll done TA

The recall option is a bit ambiguous – at Christmas or at any time? I presume the latter, if Joe Wollacott is called up for Ghana and we need a goalkeeper in that time frame then we can recall him.

I can also see some logic at work here – rumours suggested that Craig MacGillivray would be traded on, but that would us with two young untested at L1 level goalkeepers and that is a risk.

This way AMB is local and can be watched, and Gillingham is a lot more local than Ross County and if we need him when JW is at the WC then he’s literally down the road.

I would presume that CM will start the season and JW will play the cup games.

    • I would expect that CM is given the number one shirt and told to prove himself in Garner’s system with JW waiting on the bench for the first major f up.
