ESI takeover completed

The club have confirmed that the takeover of Charlton Athletic by East Street Investments (ESI) has been completed.
What a way to start the new decade, and I loving some of the words from Matt Southall, and although time will tell, he has already shown great commitment and understanding to what it means to be an Addick.
“Since our last statement on November 29th, It has been my privilege to attend every game and see for myself why this football club means so much to so many people. I have met hundreds of fans, attended some of the club’s community schemes and spoken with people for whom Charlton Athletic means everything.
“Without exception, they’ve reminded me of what Charlton stands for both as a football club and as part of the wider community. Rest assured, we will never lose sight of that and will do everything in our power to protect that legacy and the long-term future of the club.
Welcome Matt, H.E. Tahnoon Nimer and Jonathan Heller to our magnificent football club.

It was tweeted that 21.6million shares have been issues (and also the ‘historic’ debt) when RD purchased the club was 21.6m – I wonder what DebtforEquity swap has occurred – and what RD has settled for the £45m+ he was owed on the books to wipe it, and this means we can move forward on the right note.
Great news about the ESI takeover and encouraging words from the new regime. Hope Lee and the managerial team as well as Lyle are now rewarded with meaningful contracts. I can’t believe, however, that Duchatelet has muscled in on the takeover announcement seeking some of the limelight. The front he has got after his total lack of interest since day 1, as well as the debt he has lumbered us with, is bare-faced (or two-faced) cheek. Glad that nonce is no longer at the helm. Onwards and upwards now!

Fantastic – positive news at last. Hopefully we can move forward initially by cementing our position in the Championship by retaining vital players and recruiting two or three more to fortify and freshen up the squad. Andre Green looks a promising signing and a direct replacement for Leko.

The potential support from SE London and Kent catchment area is very high and hopefully will in time justify enlarging the stadium.

Finally…and welcome to the East Street Band. Nothing ever seems to happen quickly at our club and the six weeks since the takeover announcement before the EFL approval must be some kind of record.
Andre Green in already and hopefully a couple more to join him in the not too distant. Finally, finally..the Roland era is over.
