Andre Green in on loan

Kept quiet this one despite yesterday’s guessing game. The Addicks have made their first signing of the January 2020 window signing 21-year winger Andre Green on loan from Aston Villa.

Oddly I have kept an eye on Green since he was a youngster at Villa. He came through the ranks there and went on-loan to Portsmouth last season. I thought he was a good capture by Kenny Jackett, but he didn’t get much game time and suffered with an injury. He did score against us in our 2-1 win at Fratton Park.

Dean Smith recalled him last January and he then went on to become an integral part of Villa’s push to promotion via the play-off’s playing 22 times. He wasn’t given a squad number by Villa and went on a season’s loan to Preston which has been cut short.

Welcome Andre. We need someone quick who can go past a player. We need players, and Bowyer needs attacking options and Green gives him that.

Steve Gallen said: “He’s a replacement for Jonathan Leko and he’s a very good replacement. We tried to sign him in the summer and we’ve had our eye on him for a while. He is a good addition to the team, he’s fast, attacking and helped Villa to promotion last season so we’re pleased.”

Happy new year chicago. Watched in the pub on monday and it was like watching paint dry. Gallagher not so good now he hasn’t got the quality players round him he had at the start. Still. The only ambition i had at the start was for us to stay up so i’ll stick with that. Keep it simple. IF the sale goes through ( and how upset would our belgian waffle be if it doesn’t – hope he hasn’t spent the money), and IF we keep the management team, then it will have been a good season no matter what.
