Charlton Athletic 0 Wrexham 1

We did not deserve to lose that. At all.

Our best attacking display for many weeks, but it resulted in defeat and a blank in front of goal telling the serial story of us not being clinical enough. Seminally we were just unable to create enough clear cut chances from our midfield and wide players.

Conor Coady joins on loan

As anticipated this morning Conor Coady signed on loan until the end of the season. The experienced ex-England international leaves Wrexham six months after his £2million arrival.

The charismatic 32-year old will bring experience and leadership to a defence that is in desperate need of it.

I am old enough to remember the 6-0 FA Cup shellacking at the Racecourse, and other than a league win at The Valley in the early 1980’s, Wrexham game’s have rarely provided us much if any good fortune.

Equally three of our four losses this season have come in the games coming before the international break, so the omens weren’t good especially with whispers of further injuries and illness to the squad.

That was thoroughly disappointing.

Two early quick fire goals stunned us and Wrexham simply out-Charlton’d us throughout and were deserved winners. Fair play to them and Parky.

Every Saturday we follow

1,284 Addicks are descending on the north-east of Wales this weekend, many staying over the border in the pretty city of Chester.

I’ve never been the Racecourse Ground, but have just noticed it’s on Mold Road. I had an old girlfriend that lived just outside of Mold (photo), and probably not surprisingly she never introduced me to the qualities of Wrexham, but we did spend a lot of time in Chester.

I think a last kick of the game equalizer hides another below par performance, but it was still great to hear the noise when Matty Godden smacked home that penalty.

It was not in anyway memorable, and the build up to this week’s game has been a little odd, but if a few of those day trippers or lapsed fans return, then at least that’s something, as we don’t get any better at nailing these ‘big games.’

That was the attendance last time we played Wrexham at The Valley. 60 away fans if I counted correctly!

February 1982, and I think it fair to say that the 2nd Division game in the middle of winter was not an attractive proposition.

Dobbo signs for Wrexham

So at least that saga is over.

Today George Dobson signed on a free for Wrexham on a two-year contract and he will join them on their Hollywood spin around the U.S.A on their pre-season tour in a couple of weeks.

O’Connell sold to Wrexham

What is that about. Signed in the summer on a long term contract that was championed as laying down a mark for the future, 22 apperances later we flog him to Wrexham because they wave a wad of money in our faces

O’Connell was decent enough for this level, we were relying on him prior to his injury, and now he is gone.
