Kanye and Able
It’s been a little bit of a demoralizing day Charlton-wise, and I reckon the club sensed that. So, this early evening the club announced that Kanye Ramsay has signed a new four year contract.
This will take the 25-year old up to 2030, and once again gives the club protection and means that we at least keep the Hackney boy around for a while.
I like Ramsay, he puts himself on the line and comes across as a good character to have around the place. The word was that Ramsay had already joined TC and Lloyd Jones in re-signing, but I am surprised it is four years.
Excellent work from the club in working to get these three key players over the line. It really did look like Kayne would move on this summer, but as he said so himself he has found himself a home after bouncing around between 5 clubs in 4 years.
Kayne has played 80 times for the Addicks and got that one goal at Leyton Orient in front of all his family.
Great news, and it sounds like he is close to a return after missing the start of the season.
After losing Sichenje and Koumetio to injury last night, its heartening to hear that Ramsay is close to a return. I know he’s not a centre half but that depth of quality in the squad now looks thinner after Wednesday night’s match
This too shall pass……. I just hadn’t thought it would be this quick!!! This puts last night in to perspective, Kayne and TC are with us for four years, or we receive due recompense, on our terms! It is a far more efficient use of our funds to reinvest in what we know. Nothing against them, but you wouldn’t pay £2.5m for Apter or 1.5m for Olafe tomorrow, but we do know what to expect and the value of players that have played 80 and 170+ games for Charlton.
The owners are showing a longer term vision with this type of deal, and seeking academy 1 status, that augurs very well for the future and means far more than one game in the Carabao cup.
Very pleased with this – Torino apparently offered 6m Euros which must have been tempting for the board to accept. It shows that their ambitions for the club are being backed up by actions.
