Momentum and a spirit of resilence

Talking Point 🗣️

Only those that had partaken in a few too many shandies after the Crawley Town home game in early December would’ve predicted a play-off place being achieved in the middle of April with three games still to play.

It is an incredulous turnaround and massive credit to Nathan Jones and the players for giving us a feeling that I think most of us had thought was gone, and that is something to believe in.

To see and hear The Valley rocking yesterday raised the hair on the back of my neck. It’s been a really difficult period to be a Charlton fan, but I’ve been in awe of those that have stuck with it, and have sold out so many away ends this season, and even last.

I met an old mate of mine on the train back to London Bridge after the Lincoln game and he was with his young son. I was amazed how invested and captivated he was by the team, it was lovely to see and this is an intoxicating time.

The Addicks arrive to this point with a lot of momentum, and at this stage of the season you don’t have to be playing like Brazil, but you do need to have momentum and a spirit of resilience.

No one in the top 9 played well yesterday, which means Blackpool still have a slim chance of taking 6th, but good teams find a way to persevere and win games. Wycombe, our next opponents, did as well as Leyton Orient, who find themselves back in the top 6.

Three games left of the regular season, each one with something on it, which I am pleased with as we have to keep up that momentum.

Wycombe and Wrexham will need to fight it out until the end, and at this point I’d think Burton will probably have everything to play for when they come to The Valley on the final day.

There’s been too many false starts on getting our Charlton back, but it begins by having something to really get behind. COYR 🔴⚪️

    Absolutely spot on.

Me and my (not so young) son been to pretty much every away game this year, all he talks about is the ultimate sacrifice and his investment is a joy to behold having inherited the infliction.

If Blackpool do us a favour tomorrow and we do the biz oh my word game on…and if not we carry our reliance and momentum into the POs.

What a time to be a Charlton fan and yeah who’d have thought it.

All the best Addicks, Happy Easter to all.

Like all long suffering Charlton fans I’m so chuffed that Jones has turned things around and we have a team to be proud of.Friends are no longer giving me grief and have realised we are now a force to be dealt with. Its been a great end to the season with hopefully promotion being the ‘icing on the cake’ but if we miss out we have built strong foundations for next season.

I’m very optimistic that we will do it !!!! COYRs

Too many wrote off our youth as too young, too lightweight and not good enough. How would any of us like to be written off in our chosen proffession in our teens.
TC is a prime example and akso others now plying their trade and improving to at least our level.
Micah Mbick’s last two short cameos showed me there is a player in there coming and Kanu will offer more once fully fit again.
I heard at the training ground that young Zac Mitchell is tearing it up in Scotland but sadly now injured.
Trust and invest in the academy to produce more of “our own”

Sounds as if Zach’s injury not as bad as first thought, but he was missed today!
