Nathan Jones set to be appointed

Last night mid transfer deadline ‘excitement’ Rich Cawley posted that Charlton’s hierarchy had made their decision to offer the vacant manager / head coach job to Nathan Jones.

Mark Warburton, Alex Neil, Gary Rowett, Michael Duff and Neil Warnock have all spoken to the club, but talks with Nathan Jones have continued and it is “understood that the finer details of his contract are being worked on.”

There was said to be a split in the decision among the SE7 Partners’ management team whether they pick someone like Jones or go with a short term impact manager, but possibly due to the failure of the team charged to make decisions, American investors Gabriel Brener and Joshua Friedman felt compelled “to take a more hands-on approach to the process of bringing in the new man.”

The group of owners have shown some ambition this window, and they need to push the boat out further to bring in someone that gives the club the best chance of steady and pro-longed success.

That sounds like it might be happening.

I do suspect though that no announcement will be made before Saturday and Curtis Fleming will continue to take and pick the team for Derby.

One thing is for sure Nathan will always be animated on the sidelines and won’t stand like a statue.
I’m pleased he’s back at the club and he has a lot to do getting us back to winning ways.
Luton were similar to us when he was there and hopefully his management skills can be repeated.
Fingers crossed 🤞 we start improve but this season is finished so focus on stability and a push next season.
Derby will be a challenge but you never never never know with us.

O God. Here we go again. I’ve been supporting Charlton since Bob Stokoe was manager so this will be my 27th new dawn.
Personally, I would have preferred Gary Rowett but let’s see what happens. It at least looks like the new owners are now engaged.

So this is interesting, and what does it mean for Methen, Rodwell & Scott going forward?

Good question. I wouldn’t be surprised if they are given a bit more oversight. Perhaps from Simon Lenagan.
