Paul Hart rejoins

Not ultra surprising this. Nathan Jones talked in glowing terms of Paul Hart yesterday during his auspicious first pre-match press conference. Hart has played a big part in Jones’ coaching and managerial career and rejoins Charlton about a decade after he left.

Hart is 70 and has had a golden post playing career mentoring and coaching, and as Jones said yesterday was heavily responsible for the careers of a whole team of players that played at the very top. The exalted Andy Reid being one of them.

Some words from the self-appointed senior management team tonight. Zero unaccountability in there and zero signs of planning for failure, which Scott, Methven and Rodwell must becoming accustomed too.

Yet, they will still take their pay as the bloated management team work out what to do next, no doubt leaving it to Andy Scott to bring the promises and the affirming words.

Curtis Fleming to be interim with Pearcey assisting

10 days, and 7 goals conceded after joining the club to assist Michael Appleton especially on the defensive side, Curtis Fleming has been put in interim charge of the first-team.

Fleming will be assisted by current Senior Professional Development Phase Lead Coach Jason Pearce.

Richard O’Donnell has also gone, who Appleton added to his team as first team coach in mid-September.

Reading too much into Fleming hire

It’s a natural inclination of mine, but I’m always looking for an angle so I have been thinking about what the hire of new assistant head coach Curtis Fleming means.

Assistant head coach makes Fleming Michael Appleton’s number two inserting himself above Appleton’s old mate Richard O’Donnell in the club’s coaching hierarchy. O’Donnell is listed as coach and Stephen Henderson is first team goalkeeping coach.
