A Small new signing
Hang on. The window has been wedged back open and in walked today Thierry Small.
Small, a free agent after mutually agreeing to leave Southampton yesterday, signs until the end of the season with a club option of an additional year. Clearly a trial run and a coincidence perhaps that both he and Kayne Ramsey were previously at Southampton.
Thierry Small if I am critical does not look equipped or ready for a relegation scrap, which is what at least the next 6 weeks will be about. He also doesn’t sound very fit.
Yet, in the scheme of things left footed defenders that can get forward and take people on are hard to find, they have been impossible to find for us.
Small’s academy career was one of high promise and he became the youngest debutant in Everton’s history aged 16 years and 176 days when he appeared as a sub in a FA Cup game in January 2021.
He was then lured by Southampton upsetting Evertonians, and ended up costing Saints a seven-figure compensation fee.
Small never cracked on at the south-coast, had a few flops out on loan and lost his way upsetting it seems a few people along the way.
As I said I wouldn’t want to throw him in the trenches, but he’s 19 and possibly we’ve unearthed a rough diamond. Don’t under estimate Nathan Jones’ influence in this signing.

Great summary, let’s now be positive about the club and get behind them. I’ve been very impressed with what we’ve done this window, Not just spending cash, and we have, but the age and type of players we’ve bought in. COYR
Excellent info, this really is an interesting one.
