Manchester United 3 Charlton Athletic 0
Very proud of the team and the fans this morning. I hope everyone gets back safely and the smiles stay on faces for a while.
It was testament to how well we were playing that Erik ten Hag felt the need to bring on Marcus Rashford, Christian Eriksen and Casemiro at 60 minutes. In return we brought on Eoghan O’Connell, Aaron Henry and Jack Payne.
Until injury time we had them at times rattled kicking into the end full of noisy Addicks. Real shame about the two Rashford goals, the last one looked offside, but we just lacked that little bit of composure or expert pass in the final third to get the goal that would have taken the roof of the stadium.
Fraser had our best chance when he wriggled into the penalty area but fired over on his left foot. That was after about about 50 minutes I think.
Blackett-Taylor’s pace did cause problems, and was disappointed to see him withdrawn early. Rak-Sakyi had some good moments too, but I thought Lucas Ness was outstanding as were both Dobson and Fraser, once they got over their early nervousness. Ashley Maynard-Brewer also did himself proud.
A great evening for the club, and our supporters totally deserved the day and evening out. They and us watching from a pub in Bermuda were rewarded with a display full of passion and heart. It sounded and looked awesome in that vast away end. Stories will be told for many years.
One last thing I am really liking Dean Holden’s comments and interviews. He may just be a passing fad and another in the depressing line of names associated to our great club that now mean nothing. But, I truly hope not. Thank you Dean for representing our club on a famous night.

Dean Holden: “We were so close. How many times on the counter-attack were we close to finding that last pass, that final moment? We just couldn’t find it. We came out second half and had a big chance – Fraser – I thought we had a grip of the game at that point. I thought we were in control. I turned to my left and Erik is bringing those three on – Casemiro, Eriksen and Rashford.”
Stats (CAFC first): Possession – 30% / 70%; Passes – 265 / 610; Accurate passes – 183 / 533; Shots (on target) – 5 (2) / 21 (5).
It was 3 0
Damn. I must have dreamt that goal!
I did a few times 😎
Nice to see you’ve reduced the deficit 🙂
🥹 now changed. One too many drinks!
Hiya
Think you have the score wrong 😊
Still worth a try !!
Regards
Steve
We didn’t get a goal start? Used do that in the playground 😆. Thanks for pointing out.
Hi CA
We need 4 jumpers for the goals each end and we can have rush keeper’s too….half oranges at half time depending on next lesson after break time.
Classic old school playground game
Great effort, especially from the fans. Shows Sandgaard what could have been.
But with the passing euphoria it is back to basics and a really tough game against an uncompromising Barnsley. A real test of Holden and if he has turned round the general malaise previously shown by the team.
Talking of Holden, I am really warming to his no nonsense style of management.
If you saw the video of his teamtalk after the game I did like his opening comment……”look at me when I’m talking”
Shows everyone where they stand. I am the boss.
Perhaps that is an area we lacked in previously……soft touch managers too easily manipulated.
Just hope it does not end in the summer.
It all looks as if the “takeover”is a real non event. TS stating “I am going nowhere…………..”and others allegedly scrambling around Texas trying to flog $75,000 shares. Unfortunately in this day and age there is no billionaire knight in shining armour. Penny to a pound we are exactly where we are now come end of season.
As for transfers, clearly no buys and any biz only loans or free transfers.
Quite what this fella was bought in for till end of January is quite baffling.
It will be interesting to see if the £500k windfall from MU game, plus the salary saving on JFC and probably Stockley are in any way re-invested. I somehow doubt it
Good evening
It was an amazing night and I’m totally hoarse now. We were very good without that final bit of quality that would have made a difference.
I have a program for you so please let me know how I can get it to you
Eddie, that is so kind. I have dropped you an email.
