Giving thanks

Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends.
There’s a lot to like about Thanksgiving – eating, drinking, the complete removal of pressures to buy gifts and sport, a lot of it, and this year the added bonus of World Cup soccer football.
Today also brings together the English and Americans to break some bread over the Group A clash later in Al Khor. We closed our office today and I’ll meet a few lads later for a couple of beers to watch the game in the pub.
Yesterday and I had a rare and quiet day. I took the dog for a long walk, and then treated the when-does-this-World-Cup-end-other-half to lunch. Later we popped into see some friends for a Thanksgiving tipple, whilst our daughter was partaking in her myriad of after school activities.
All that was punctuated by the football of course, although yesterday it took until late into the Portugal v Ghana game to get going. What a cracker Richarlison’s second goal was though.
Today and the less said about Wales the better. The Welsh team were dreadful, almost hopeful that Bale and Ramsey would rustle something up out of nothing. Iran were deserved winners.
Five ex-Charlton players on the Welsh bench, neither of whom, even dear Jonny, are anywhere good enough to come on and change a game of this magnitude sadly.
Onto later then when hopefully Thanksgiving comes to a successful end 🏴.
“Are you Charlton in disguise”?
Unfortunately England managed to make even Charlton look good (OK impossible I know but you get the gist)
Well, unlike me did not wake up at 2 am and am glad I did not.
However, football and the WC come up with these performances and always wonder why no credit goes to the opposition at all the USA played exceptionally well and frankly could well have won it.
Yes please give credit there are 2 teams out there and no one is going to lay down for England or little ole CAFC are they?
Yes, also got Welsh blood in me and for once the dragons just did not perform or seemingly more surprisingly there was hardly any passion in their play and not saying they did not try.
As for CAFC and BG and unusually for BG he normally is very respectful about the opposition but his comments after the Vale “performance” was an absolute disgrace and show he is just about the end of his tether.
Interesting to hear about his pre-match Cup game comments about Stockport and back to his complimentary views on the opposition but even more noticeable some players are on a final warning.
Yes, the younger players may well start very soon and CAFC will need them as down to the bare bones AGAIN.
As for Stockley, just get rid of and sell him and TS will have more money in his pocket.
