It’s all gone quiet over there
After Rich Cawley announced on Wednesday that Ben Garner was done and compensation agreed with Swindon there was pretty much a universal sigh of ‘who?’
Now two days later and nothing has been announced Addicks’ fans are now asking ‘what is going on?’
They are right to ask. Rich Cawley rarely gets his information wrong and doesn’t deal in tittle-tattle, so this information must have come from Swindon, and not Thomas Sandgaard.
The Evening Standard also ran with the story although couched it that we were close to agreeing terms.
I wonder if the announcement is being delayed until Sandgaard flies in from Denver, assuming he is not in the UK at present. Or maybe there is something more sinister?
Is there an issue with Garner’s salary, or a deeper one on recruitment and control?
It’s just all a bit odd, and perhaps Sandgaard is continuing to take interviews or he has returned to a man that already has said no, such as Michael Beale, who is now talking to QPR.
Assuming nothing will be announced over the weekend as we approach 4 weeks without a manager and over a month since the season ended.
Today Conor Washington signed a 2-year deal with Rotherham. Good luck to him playing in a higher division next season. Let’s hope we are able to sign a better replacement than the popular Irishman.

Washington, our 2nd top scorer deemed not good enough for us, a club mired in mid table mediocrity in L1, yet immediately signs for a club one division higher.
Unless TS has some seemingly invisible rabbits to pull out of the hat, he is quickly going to lose the fans. With his son seemingly in charge of recruitment (WTF) would anyone sign for us, or as usual we will find ourselves in last minute .com panic loans.

I’m very very very worried that something is not feeling right at present….no manager, no new players, no time to organise pre-season games before the early start to the season.
Other teams in league 1 have an advantage already

Hmmmmm; I suspect all was going well up until the time when a TS American style sales contract was produced – MS selects the players, TS tells you what football style to play and if you don’t finish in the top 8 you are out of a job 10 months later with no compensation. I really do hope though that a Manager is appointed soon as there are some good players being released right now!
Stated it before and are we really surprised and we talking about CAFC here and well good luck Washington and obvious Purrington won’t sign and a few others on contract will go.
I cannot say I am not concerned about the goings-on so far, and I have been saying I would give Thomas time until start of the new season before reacting, but I do recall JJ saying he was having an imput on who stays and goes. The next 4 weeks are now crucial to either having a happy camp – or were back in protest mode.

Because Davison was involved I watched both Swindons’ play off matches. The home fixture was fine but the second game at Port Vale was strange because of BG’s tactics and in game management. Kirdy who scored twice in the first game was played wide right leaving Davison isolated in the middle with a defender permanently attached and no Swindon player within 10-15 yards. I was not impressed.

With a Spanish training camp jolly booked for 18 June just over 2 weeks then to find a manager and some players to pad out the numbers..
