U18’s lose to Blades in final

A fair bit of dodgy reffing today saw the U18 Addicks lose in the Professional Development League 2 Play-Off Final 2-1 to Sheffield United today.
With both The Valley and Bramall Lane being re-turfed, the game was sadly played at The Blades training ground in Shirecliffe.
We had a dream start after 6 minutes when Karoy Anderson and Miles Leaburn combined to play in Daniel Kanu, who expertly volleyed home his 41st goal of the season.
The home side finished the 2nd half strong and in truth their 2nd half display saw them as deserving winners but only after the ref gave them a very dubious penalty.
The penalty was pushed onto the post by Kone, but bounced back to the penalty taker who finished second time of asking.
The Blades’ winner came 15 minutes from time to keep their season-long unbeaten record. They are another club making every effort to get Category One status.
For the Addicks it was the second year on the bounce that we were losing finalists. Let’s hope we see plenty more of these young men knocking on the door of the first team in season’s to come.
Yes well done on the season and yes saw it and a diabolical decision tbf Sheff U were by far the better side.
The CAFC team was composed mostly of !st years i.e.U17 age group with a couple of U18s and a couple of U16s so the team will be very strong next season. The penalty decision was baffling to say the least and must have left a sour taste with Nathan Asiimwe who was excellent throughout. This is his 2nd year in the team with another year to go, he is my confident tip for success and could emulate Elewere by joining the first team squad whilst still an U18. It will be interesting to see which of the promising U16 age group are offered scholarships and take them up.
I watched the Div 2 play offs with Swindon and Port Vale and Davison did not show up as well as I hoped. He was left isolated too often and confirmed my opinion that he should not play as a centre forward at this stage of his career.
Every year I watch the play offs and pre-season matches and select 2 or 3 players to follow. Last season my 3 to watch were Ross Stewart ( now at Sunderland) Costas-Mendes (now at Luton) and Armani Little of non league Torquay. I have already found one for next season in Ellis Iandolo who plays left back for Swindon he is in his mid 20s and was formerly with Maidstone.
Too much to hope Cafc could get him, as a left back is a priority, as I do not like the current wing back system we employ. Blackett- Taylor is a winger and should be used as such
