Josh leaves on loan. Others to follow

22-year old Josh Davison has moved to Swindon Town on loan for the remainder of the season to help the Robins’ challenge for promotion from League Two. A certain Welshman called Williams is already at the County Ground.
I feel a bit sorry for Josh, as he has only ever come into the side in a state of emergency and although his overall game has improved he has not had the strike rate required to secure a continual first team squad place.
Davison’s contract expires in the summer, but there is a one-year option, but I am not sure who has the overall say in that. I would suspect this might be the last time we see Josh.
The Addicks have also loaned out young keeper Nathan Harness to Dulwich Hamlet and striker Dylan Gavin to Billericay Town for a month plus in an interesting move the 22-year Ben Dempsey has moved to Scottish Championship side Ayr United until season-end. Dempsey’s contract also expires in the summer.
So, who will else will leave in the next week?
Jacko has put Pape Souare in the shop window. I know he has had to come from a long way to get back to where he was a few years ago, but the left back has not impressed and Jacko was pretty straight with him in his comments.
Other players that could well end up on loan or moved permanently if there is the right offer for all parties are Chris Gunter and Charlie Kirk. Adam Matthews is another possibility, but I’d could foresee the Welshman still being part of Jacko’s plans.
I feel Josh really needs a half-season like Karlan had at Crawley, a good run in the side as the team’s main goal threat, it should bring him to where he should be, then we can take up the extension and use him properly next season…
I have always thought that Davison will be a decent centre forward in time, in the short term he needs to play as a second striker. Other options are to play one side of a front 3 or play as a wing back on the right side. When I saw him in the U23s 2 years ago he impressed when he drifted wide and his crossing was good, he has the energy to get up and down the pitch the only concern is whether he has the defensive ability. But he always impressed with his defensive work when defending at corners and free kicks. It would be a shame to lose someone with his energy and hard work ethic without exploring all options.
We have the best squad of players in the Academy since I started watching in the 1960s but I fear that supporters will have limited chances to see many of them as they will be poached by Premier and Championship clubs as we will be unable to offer them attractive contracts while we languish in Div.1, It is imperative that we get to the Championship as soon as possible.
