Marcus Browne on a permanent

An interesting development in the Marcus Browne rumour. The reliable Rich Cawley is suggesting a permanent deal for the 24-year old attacking midfielder from Middlesbrough.
Browne came through West Ham’s academy and was signed by Middlesbrough in July 2019, but has had a serious knee injury sustained in a cup game for Boro a year ago.
He starred at Oxford on loan and had scored 2 goals in 5 league appearances for Boro in The Championship before his injury. He hasn’t played a first team game since.
He may well fit the bill of an exciting youngster with good up-sell value, but let’s hope the medical is thorough and the deal has caveats.
If he passes a medical Browne could sign today.

No thanks when will cafc learn
On loan, yes with an option to buy in the summer. Even as a loan I’m nervous, he hasn’t played for a year and there’s the chance that we’d be paying the wages of a player who will need to be carefully nursed back into the game and then he’d leave for Middlesboro and we’d have acted as their second team with no real gain for us.
We have Ryan Inniss already as our designated injury prone player, like Inniss Browne might be a good player, especially at L1 level, but not if he’s not playing.
