Cheltenham Town 1 Charlton Athletic 1

When Addicks’ fans invaded the pitch at the Jonny Rocks Stadium after Chuks Aneke scrambled in an undeserved equalizer in the 94th minute it kind of summed up where we now stand as a football club.

Ex-Premier League staple, upper end Championship stadium and by most accord a club too big to be playing in the 3rd tier. Well, I think the more we accept where we are the more of a chance the club has to reset and start again.

As many have commented on here some of these players, a result mostly of poor recruitment, are not fit enough to lace some of our previous third tier player’s boots. Many back in time we fondly remember, teams and season’s that were some of my favourites, despite of the level of competition we were playing.

I fortunately missed most of yesterday’s game as I was watching my daughter firstly in a swim meet, and then running a 1,500m at Bermuda’s National Stadium. I watched kids’ put more effort and enthusiasm into their races than was happening at the same time in black and gold shirt’s in Gloucestershire.

I am supposedly old enough to be embarrassed by Charlton fans invading the pitch equalizing at a ground that for most of it’s history has held non-league football. It is actually the players that many thousands travel and pay to watch that should be embarrassed.

I thought it was hilarious that Addicks’ fans danced on the pitch. This team doesn’t deserve over 1,500 fans following it around the country.

League One looks like being our place in football’s ladder for the 7th season out of 8th, that’s as long as we can keep away from relegation.

Thomas and his five year plan, and our recruitment policy headed by Jacko need to deal with it.

Jacko: “Then today, I don’t think we really deserved to get anything out of the game and we got an equaliser in the last minute.”

CA you definately watched the far superior effort and more entertainment of your daughter, well done to her.

The first half was dire we could have been three to four nil down easily if their finishing had been better, it was a complete shambles at the back.

Apart from Morgan, who also put over some decent crosses and free kicks, unlike Lee and Aneke’s display in the second half, you could have subbed every other player, they were all that bad, even the substitutes!

Here’s a thought. Why not try swapping our team with the England cricket team? Change of ball size and kit might just work wonders… Well, could it be worse for either?

Get out of bed the wrong side CA?
This is still broadly the same squad that Adkins couldn’t get a tune out of for 3 months
Jacko’s reboot was always going to hit a sticky patch
A lack of sustained quality no doubt but no lack of effort from most of em
Fair enough bellends running on the pitch need a sound rollocking
13 months ago we were on life support
    Look upwards, move ever onwards

    • SCN – think that is the subtle difference from Adkins to Jacko. The team spirit has vastly improved if the quality hasn’t.
