Gateshead 0 Charlton Athletic 2

It was all about the result this. We are not the best at negotiating banana skins, especially when combined with games being shown live on the box.

I didn’t see the game as I was travelling and working but have caught upoin it. Sounded as if the Heed gave us some wobbles at the back, with Stephen Henderson in what was much needed fine form.

It was good to see Elerewe play again, but we need some bodies back. I did hear a whisper that Ryan Inniss is not that far away, but I may have dreamt that, but some options would be helpful.

Credit to Stockley for the two goals, although not sure he knew much about the 2nd, applause again to Purrington for that. Also what a magnificently hardy effort from those Addicks that made their way up to the famous old Athletics stadium on the Tyne on a Friday night.

Two really important league games now, which needs all of our attention, but it does feel nice to be in the hat for the 3rd Round. The journey continues into the new year in two cups of course. Unheard off!

I love a Friday win, enjoy your weekend’s all.

Jacko: “It wasn’t without its problems on the evening but we’re through and that was what we came here to do and we’re in the hat for the third round.”

  1. Avoided a banana skin and yes, how nice to have a stress free Saturday and a happy Sunday, for a change!

I really wouldn’t get too excited about the return of Ryan Inniss ……………………

Good job you missed it live. Beckford gets the award for most irritating commentator of the year. Hurrah for the mute button.
In case they have missed it please let your readers know about the Food Bank collection at the next 2 home games. West stand car park. Thanks.

    • His commentary wasn’t the best but credit to Beckford for apologising on Twatter to those who thought he was biased and as he acknowledged he did have a soft spot for the underdog as most neutrals probably did too.

have to say Beckford’s commentary was well off. Being one of the few Addicks matches I can get to, I was at the ground, the defence of Clare-Elerewe-Famewo looked solid, and Henderson didn’t have much to do. their players seemed to spend much of the time on the floor, and outside their third or the middle portion of the pitch. there were some wobbly moments before the first goal, but the class of the pass that picked up Washington and his peach of a run and final ball, where Stockley couldn’t miss, really settled things down.
Elerewe looked calm and composed all game. DJ was anonymous until after the goal, Lee was lively, dobson threw his weight around and the Traveling Addicks were in good voice, despite the lack of a roof, and possibly consequentially, the best passages of play came during choruses of “Song for Sebo”
