Stockley signs 3-year deal

Signing no.1 ✔️

A popular one I’d image as Jayden Stockley completes his move to Charlton from Preston. The 27-year old has signed for three years. The fee officially undisclosed, is thought to be £450,000.

Stockley scored 8 times in 22 games on loan for us last season and his work rate was second to none for a player on loan. He spoke well and I loved that commitment he showed and importantly he clearly wanted to sign for us, shunning Portsmouth, Ipswich and Sheffield Wednesday in recent days.

I will say I didn’t often like the long hopeful balls lofted in his general direction as a style of play characteristic, but many of the games he played in were must wins and for me it is vital that Nigel Adkins signs two quick wide men that can buzz around Stockley and cause a headache for L1 defenders.

Great to see the first signing of the summer done. Welcome Jayden.

Great signing and I agree with you in hoping that we don’t overdo the route one approach. Would be great if he could form a potent partnership with Aneke. Hopefully a signing like this will encourage our out of contract players to sign.

Pleased, but he is a player who needs better servce than he got.

Good signing. Jayden is the right type of player for us. For another League one campaign.

A great signing…but to echo what Wyn says, we need to have a couple of players feeding off him. Last season the tactic of humping the ball up to Stockley worked – he scored eight goals after all, but we could get so much more out of him if he could bring another striker/attacking midfielders into play.
