Doughty offered new contract

The make-up of next season’s squad is as fluid as ever. Not knowing what division we’ll be in or who own’s the Addicks are just two major variables.
It does seem that the tireless work of Steve Gallen continues though as following the news a few weeks back that Albie Morgan and Josh Davison had signed new deals, Alfie Doughty has been offered an extension too.
Doughty has had his suitors. Fulham made a rapid-fire bid for him in January, knowing I suspect full well what a circus we were at the end of the window.
The SLP are reporting that Gallen and Lee Bowyer are keen to tie the speedy wide man down to a longer contract. His current deal expires next summer. Alfie has been impressive since the return (as he was before) and his adventurous and undaunted bursts down the left have been a joy to watch.
I hope Doughty will sign a long term contract because he will get stronger as he physically matures which should mean he gets even more pace. He had a belated growth spurt two or three years ago when he suddenly grew about three inches and it takes time for the muscles and body strength to catch up.and mature. Before the growth spurt he was a promising player but did not show the outstanding pace he has now.His stamina should also improve so that he will be able to play a full 90 minutes.
