Morgan and Davison sign new contracts

Good news today as the club made a positive investment in the future by offering new contracts to Albie Morgan and Josh Davison.
Morgan and Davison, both 20, signed three and two years deals respectively. Davison has an option of a further year.
Unexpected timing with confusion and shambles going on behind the scenes, but someone, Paul Elliott we presume, took Bowyer and Gallen’s advice and sanctioned it. Elliott has no money and is yet to be approved by the EFL (no rush eh), but there must have been some upfront costs. Who’s paying?
Anyway, enough of that, this is very good news and congratulations to both young men. Morgan starting on Saturday was a big shock, and Bowyer has been consistently tough on the midfielder criticizing his fitness and the defensive side of his game. Tough love from a man who was fit as a butcher’s dog and defended like a tiger when he played.
Morgan listened and came back from lockdown firing and fitter than he’s ever been.
As for Josh, he was outstanding when he came to the rescue of the injury smashed squad in January. Very physical (look at the size of him in that photo) and hard working. We were all chuffed when he scored that goal at home to West Brom weren’t we?
Steve Gallen said: “Signing these two players was made easy because they both want to be at the club. Their signings show we are starting to make steps forward again.”
As you know I have been a big fan of both Morgan and Davison, I thought Bowyer’s criticism of Morgan early in the season was harsh. I follow the U18s and U23s whenever possible and I am firmly of the opinion that Morgan is an effective No.10 which is how he is described by the academy staff in the 17/18 handbook. He has not played that role in the first team so far but should be given a try as the forwards we have need good service.
Davison deserves all the praise going as he works so hard, I am sure that if he continues to progress he will be a great asset to the club.
Hi rierti – Both great assets and real fillip to everyone. Who knows what our future holds, but at least these two will be part of it for a while yet. Pleased for you to as you have really championed both, but especially Morgan.
As I did for Grant 2yrs ago when there were many doubters. Let’s hope i’m right again.
