Charlton Athletic 2 Burton Albion 1

A fantastic few home days for Addicks. Tonight was nowhere near the level of performance of Saturday, but 3 more points puts us in a very strong position.
Lee Bowyer made four changes. Two enforced with Reeves and Fosu replacing Bielik and Williams, both nursing hamstrings while Solly came in for an unfortunate Dijksteel and Josh Parker swapped with Vetokele. Jason Pearce was on the bench.
All the action seemed to happen in the first six minutes. Taylor put wide, Fosu hit the uderside of the bar and Bauer got a good block on a goalbound Burton effort. Then Taylor won a penalty and strolled up to score.
Burton equalized. Also from the spot after Bauer handled. From then on the half sounded pretty entertaining despite poor conditions. Reeves put us back in front with another fine header. A lovely Taylor cross picking him out as he dived full length to head in his fourth of the season.
The 2nd half, at least from the radio, sounded a bit of a slog. The players were clearly knackered and Burton saw a lot of the ball and will see themselves as very unlucky to end both games this season against us with nowt.
Cullen starred in midfield and Bauer again was very solid. Parker has also come in for praise for his hard work.
Six big Valley points. Allez, allez, allez.
Addicks at The Valley:
Bow: “They dug in deep tonight. I think we looked a little bit tired. I thought the fans helped us get through it.”
Elsewhere: Peterborough lost at a revitalized Wimbledon and Doncaster drew at Blackpool. Barnsley will be happier with their point at home to Sunderland than their automatic promotion rivals. Luton‘s lead is now 5 points after they won at Bradford. Portsmouth won 3-2 at Walsall. Meanwhile just 5 points split Plymouth in 12th and Oxford in 21st.

Looks like we will have only three strikers for the rest of the season as Hackett-Fairchild has gone to Bromley on loan.Taylor is fine but Vetokele and Parker have yet to prove themselves,
hopefully we have an out of contract striker lined up.
Rierti – I doubt that very much. Taylor Maloney out on loan too.
I must admit that Bowyer’s judgement on strikers seems questionable to me.
After the Plymouth game last season I commented on your site that Ajose and Kaikai did not convince me. Within a couple of days Bowyer was quoted on the CAFC website claiming Ajose and Kaikai were very good strikers. Now because Reeves has scored a goal Bowyer thinks that he can become a regular goalscorer, I hope he’s right but I have my doubts. If we lose Taylor to injury what options do we have.
