Igor, Igor

Seems like about 100 years ago that chant cannoned out of the away end at Brentford. It is coming up 4 years to be exact, but Igor Vetokele this week will make his umpteenth re-appearance at Sparrows Lane for pre-season training on Wednesday.

Lee Bowyer has never seen him play, in fact most of us have only seen a snippet of the 26-year old, who played 25 times for Sint Truiden last season. I will repeat what has been said by Addicks a thousand times – a fit Igor with the right attitude should score buckets of goals in League One….

Bowyer and Johnnie Jackson will appoint an goalkeeping coach this week, and apparently are close to adding two new signings.

Meanwhile with Duchatelet prepared to pay for a pre-season tour (as sponsored by Southend and Brentford), the old bugger has given the Aussie consortium a deadline of the end of this week to prove they have the funds to purchase the club. A little known British group apparently lie in wait.

Pair him with the right no 10 and he could be what we need, a fox in the box poacher, play him as a sole striker and forget it, he’s not tall enough. I had high hopes for a Watt/Vetokele partnership, it worked well when Watt first arrived at the club, thereafter events kicked in and it didn’t get a chance.
