Welling friendly changed. Again

Apparently according to the Welling United website. Back to it’s original date, which means one of three things:

1) Lee Bowyer now needs less time to get his players ready,
2) Roland Duchatelet has now agreed to pay for a pre-season tour camping in Swanage, or
3) The management of the club don’t know their arse from their elbow.

New Welling manager Steve King has hit the ground running and has signed five players. In the past we’ve played a different team for each half, the way it’s going Welling may need to lend us a couple.

It is believed that one of the strikers Lee Bowyer is talking to is Lyle Taylor from AFC Wimbledon. The 6’ 2” striker scored 18 goals last season, and 14 the season prior. We are not alone in the chase of Taylor though. Sunderland, Bristol Rovers, Southend, Burton and Peterborough are all options for the out of contract 28-year old.

Meantime Harry Lennon has signed for Southend as expected for an up front cash payment of £50,000. Of course that’ll explain how Duchatelet is splurging on a pre-season tour now. Or is he? Who the hell knows.
