Blackpool 1 Charlton Athletic 0
Please let it stop. I want to get off..
Absolute shocker of a performance tonight. If that is a group of players with a point to prove, then they are an embarrassment, as is their manager, who in tonight’s game of excuse bingo (17 minutes long) blamed the takeover for the way the players are performing. Oh the players have families and don’t know if they are going to have a contract in summer…. They don’t deserve a f-in contract.
Roland Duchatelet can be blamed for a lot of things, most things. But losing to Blackpool because we are tosh is not one of them. Honestly if the old scrote came out of his bunker after watching tonight’s game (not funny, I know) and decides to sack Robinson, then it might possibly be the only good thing the Belgian has done in his time as our owner.
Those poor Addicks who made their long way to Bloomfield Road tonight. You are my heroes.
We were awful from the beginning, well at least until the game got going after various stoppages and then a horrific clash of heads between Blackpool’s Delfouneso and Lewis Page. Poor Page, his Charlton career sums up Karl Robinson’s time in SE7.
Despite starting both Magennis and Zyro, Robinson still went with 4-2-3-1 and we had two shots on target and won our first corner in the 70th odd minute.
Jimmy Ryan scored a fully deserved last-gasp winner as Blackpool picked up their first home league win in 5 months in front of just over 3,000 fans. I really don’t know where we go from here.

Come on Karl, stop talking bollocks mate. We finished on 60 points last season, we are 9 short of that with 10 games to go, will be interesting to see what we finish on. Has this season really been that much better than last? At least there was no/little expectation last season. It’s the hope that kills you…if only the delay in the takeover was down to who is funding of the termination of Mr Robinson’s contract.
Well said Tex- talking bollocks is the one thing Karl excels at… As for the takeover, what takeover ?
Agreed. When he took over from Nugent we were 3 points off the play-off’s….
Under normal circumstances Robinson would be gone by now but unfortunately circumstances aren’t normal and a manager who knows he won’t have a contract at the end of Roland’s tenure is using his own excuse for being crap for the players as well.
I worked for a company where we knew redundancies were inevitable but did it stop us performing to the best of our abilities? Of course it didn’t. You want to get a job after the inevitable and you have a better chance if you work well. Surely Charlton’s players should be putting themselves in the shop window right now so they won’t be left on the scrapheap when a new management team is eventually installed, either at The Valley or elsewhere.
Enough excuses Robinson. Piss or get off the pot!
We need the take over to happen and we need it quickly. However, if i was someone with that many millions to spend, i think i would have realised by now that if i wait until promotion is mathematically impossible then the “agreed price” is likely to reduce quite significantly. Roland will not want to keep shelling out month after month on a dwindling asset.
On the field, i think that Robinson’s infectious enthusiasm has long run its course. I have consistently criticised his post match interviews. He talks a lot, but says little. I won’t be sad to see him go, but in a purely practical sense, who would take the job?
Jackson would appear to be the only one likely to be foolish enough to give it a try. And although i don’t think he is a long term solution, perhaps he could galvanise a demoralised squad, and put a run together in these last 10 games or so and get us close.
It really is the hope that kills eh?
It’s all part of RD’s master plan to run us completely into the ground.
