Promotion the only goal

Wasn’t that what we were told in August? The top two the target, play-off’s a minimum.

Well with 34 games gone we have rarely shown promotion form, perhaps the wins away at Rotherham and Bradford aside. We’ve won just three times thus far against the teams currently in the top 12.

We know what a promotion team looks like, and sadly we don’t look like a team that has the faculty to get promoted. Without promotion this team, this manager and his staff would have failed. Badly.

Yet, incredibly this division is so bad that we have won five times since October and still sit 8th, 3 points off 6th with two games in hand. We all know that invariably the form team wins the play-off’s. There are 12 games left, and plenty of points, for Karl Robinson and his team to put a run together and be that team.

Would be lovely wouldn’t it? Who’s with me? No? It’s a forlorn dream isn’t it. We are unable to score goals, we are letting them in, and we have a rigid style of play that looks unbalanced and we seem unable to affect games. Add to that key players that are injured and a lung busting end of season run into the play-off’s to be that team, although statistically still very viable, realistically appears hugely unlikely.

What a disaster.
