Holmes gone. Money not to be reinvested

As expected Ricky Holmes was unveiled as a Sheffield United player today. The fee was undisclosed bu5 reckoned of be no more than £400,000. Richard Murray, remember hump?, said that due to takeover talks the money will not be reinvested in the team, but Holmes wages will, meaning loans and free agents only.
Don’t ask me how during takeover talks players can be sold but not bought. Best to ask Roland how that works. This could get nastier as Duchatelet flogs the family silver one by one.
There’s a whisker of Igor Vetokele returning from loan at St Truiden, the Angolan has scored 6 goals from 14 starts but that looks complicated. However Nicky Ajose will not be returning. A veiled knock at Ajose by Karl Robinson over the weekend would tell me he certainly wouldn’t be welcomed back and he will go elsewhere on loan if Bury release him. Chris Lucketti was sacked by Bury today just two months after replacing Lee Clark. Bury have had three managers in just over a year and look destined to drop to League Two.
In other striker transfer news Joe Pigott signed for AFC Wimbledon from Maidstone for what was thought to be £25,000. £25k more than we have to spend. I’ll let that sink in….
Cons next and Robinson won’t see any of that either.
