2013 Top 5 Favourite Albums
Music is next up on Chicago Addick’s 2013 Top 5’s. I have been a regular buyer of albums since my early teenage years and 2013 was no different.
There were a number of good listens, but after some consideration, here are my Top 5 Favourite Albums:
1. Holy Fire – Foals
The band’s 3rd album has depth and mood, with each song flowing magnificently into one and another. Still yet to see Foals live, an ambition yet to be fulfilled.
Favourite track: Late Night
2. Trouble will find me – The National
I’m a huge The National fan and always find myself climbing into their songs and letting them engulf me.Trouble will find me is both warm and haunting with simple but memorable lyrics. This is the Cincinnati band’s 6th album.
Favourite track: Pink Rabbits
3. AM – Artic Monkeys
I’ve notpreviusly been as taken by the Arctic Monkeys as many others, but this is a great album, more rockier than what came before it. A break-up album if ever I heard one, but me and the Arctic Monkeys are now together.
Favourite track: Do I Wanna Know
4. Night Visions – Imagine Dragons
The boys from Los Angeles have been all over the US award shows after years of slogging away on the club scene and I thought I was clever ‘discovering’ them! A nice mix of folk, indie and mainstream, and pretty good live too.
Favourite track: Amsterdam
5. The Bones of What You Believe – Chvrches
A very atmospheric debut album from the Glasgow indie-popsters led from the front by the irresistable Lauren Mayberry.
Favourite track: Tether
Honourable mentions: Inform-Educate-Entertain – Public Service Broadcasting and Bad Blood – Bastille.
