2013 Top 5 Favourite Restaurants

Next up in my last year’s Top 5’s are my Top 5 Favourite Restaurants.. Five were hard to pick but pick I did, all five from North America as well.

1. Casa Tua, Miami, Florida
Hidden away behind trees and bushes (photo), we were welcomed as if we were family guests in someone’s home. The food and ambience of the place was wonderful, a little romantic for me and a mate, but the best meal I ate last year. A lot more to discover here than a restaurant as well.

2. J&G Grill, Bal Harbour, Florida
I can still taste the truffle pizza singing on my tongue – superb. Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s menu is a song sheet full of great dishes and they were wonderfully sung by a fantastic waiter.

3. The Bison, Banff, Canada
This was a nice surprise. I was in Banff for a work’s conference and this was an excellent restaurant utilising local ingredients in comfy surroundings.

4. Dandelion, Philadelphia
As gastropub near Rittenhouse Row in Philly. The ‘British pub’ pays homage to all things British, but don’t let this fool you, the food was absolutely top notch (as was the beer). One of many great locations from restauranteur Stephen Starr.

5. Capital Grill, New York City
My bosses favourite place. Big tables, intimate booths, private rooms, wine cellar, cool bar, juicy steaks, exquisite seafood and a Don Draper on every other table.
