Good on Parky

Riveting wasn’t it? The battle to finish 4th. I nearly wet myself when Newcastle got a free-kick in Arsenal’s half with a couple minutes to go….

More exciting and relevant to us Addicks was Yeovil’s first ever promotion to the 2nd tier. Gary Johnson, who was mentioned in dispatches for the Charlton job post Parky only re-joined the Glovers in January last year. He kept them up and then took them to promotion today, 10-years after he brought them into the league. Welcome to The Championship Yeovil, lets hope it doesn’t rain on our trip down there next season!

I felt sorry for Brentford but they seem a club on the up and I’m convinced that Uwe Rosler’s side will be stronger for this disappointment next season. One wonders now what is next for Bradley Wright Phillips who came on as a 2nd half sub, and whose loan spell now ends.

A far more happier ex-Addick was Phil Parkinson, who ended an incredible season for Bradford City with promotion from the play-off’s after cruising past Northampton Town at Wembley in front of an impressive crowd of over 47,000.

Bradford were 3-0 up within half an hour with Bermudian striker Nahki Wells getting the 3rd and also the Man of the Match award. Kyel Reid also played.

City were often labelled as the biggest club in League Two, mostly because of their past Premier League membership but also because of their gates. However what is rarely mentioned is the club’s foresight in cheaply pricing season tickets in conjunction with a supporters board with total buy in from Bradford’s management and owners.

What Parky gave the fans of course is a never-say-die-attitude plus two trips to Wembley, and I’m sure he is relishing another crack at League One. Richard Murray called their relationship the most congenial out of all the managers that he has worked with and many Charlton fans would’ve been chuffed for Parky yesterday.

Well done ol’Parky indeed. Always felt he was not appreciated as much as he should have ben at Charlton. Got to the play off semi with a cobbled together team of free transfers and over the hill old pros. Good luck to him and Bradford!
