Terry Skiverton is Jacko’s new assistant

Long time Yeovil Town player, captain, manager and assistant manager Terry Skiverton is set to be announced as Johnnie Jackson’s assistant this week.

An East End boy, he did spend two years at Welling United in the 90’s but there is where any connection ends.

Good on Parky

Riveting wasn’t it? The battle to finish 4th. I nearly wet myself when Newcastle got a free-kick in Arsenal’s half with a couple minutes to go….

More exciting and relevant to us Addicks was Yeovil’s first ever promotion to the 2nd tier. Gary Johnson, who was mentioned in dispatches for the Charlton job post Parky only re-joined the Glovers in January last year. He kept them up and then took them to promotion today, 10-years after he brought them into the league. Welcome to The Championship Yeovil, lets hope it doesn’t rain on our trip down there next season!

Green light

The January transfer window is normally the green light for football club chairman and owners to do their own bit of shopping but usually for a new manager.

The highest profile so far has been Neil Warnock (the man with the best anagram in football), who was relieved of his duties, with the League Championship trophy still without dust on it in the Loftus Road trophy cabinet. Mark Hughes is Tony Fernandes first choice and it is now left to Hughes to weigh up whether QPR will pay him more represent a bigger challenge than Fulham.

Huish little Bradley

Yeovil Town 0 Charlton Athletic 1
Some nail biting moments in the 2nd half but another very welcome 3 points as the Chris Powell revolution gathers some speed.

Whilst the goals were flying in in the Premier League, one would do us at a very windy Huish Park, only the 2nd defeat in 9 for The Glovers. The first half sounded dyer, although it is hard to blame Alex! But the 2nd half was a lot better. BWP missed what appeared a sitter, but he would get another chance.

Chances of an appeal? Sweet FA

Charlton Athletic 3 Yeovil Town 2
An exciting game at The Valley on Saturday ended with another 3 points after Johnnie Jackson hammered home a 85th minute penalty, after Akpo Sodje was hauled down in the box. Well tickled down anyway.

Paul Huntington was sent off for that challenge (2nd yellow), the same man who ran 60-yards to convince referee Whitestone to send off Christian Dailly for an alleged elbow. I have to say the video clip looks like he led with his arm, even if was lacking intent. I hope the club can find another angle if they are to pursue the FA with an appeal because the FA have a habit of turning their noses up at us. In our favour is that both Yeovil player Sam Williams and manager and ex-Welling United defender Terry Skiverton said it was a clash of heads after the game.
