A week away

After a manic, and an often wearing March at work we leave Bermuda tomorrow for a week away spending the first weekend in Coral Gables, near Miami and then next week in Colorado followed by the majority of the next weekend making our way back from the mountains to Bermuda, not something the airlines allow us to do simply.

As I posted last weekend we have tickets for the Sony Ericsson Open tennis men’s final on Sunday afternoon. In today’s semi’s Rafa Nadal plays Andy Murray and number one seed Novak Djokovic is paired with the 21st seed Argentinian Juan Monaco.

We also plan some child friendly activities which was to have included the Miami Children’s Museum but it is closed for some fancy schmancy $1,000 a ticket gala but the Miami Metro Zoo looks good as does Jungle Island.

The weather in Florida has been warm enough to swim and the famed swimming pool where we are staying (photo) where Tarzan once broke a few records in the ginormous pool, and once the world’s biggest is now designated a National Historic Landmark. A couple of laps of that and a mojito at the pool bar sounds in order and if necessary I can always use my daughter’s armbands to swim back!

I am a big fan of Coral Gables, a quiet Spanish influenced hideaway a stone’s throw from the partying of Miami and then on early Monday we fly to Eagle Airport near Vail in the north west of Colorado. From there we will drive the short journey to Beaver Creek where we are staying.

The weather has been warm in Colorado, in fact warmer than Bermuda these last couple of days! It does look at higher levels like most of the snow is remaining and they have done a good job retaining it, but I wouldn’t expect much more of the fluffy stuff and the resort will definitely be getting ready for a change in season.

Unusually for us we are staying in two resorts and two hotels that we have been to before. I suppose kids make you hanker for a bit of familiarity but both Coral Gables and Beaver Creek hold great memories for us and I am really looking forward to a break.

CA, you lead such a boring, mundane, uneventful life.
