Very disappointed with that. It’s still bugging me now. At least my hangover has gone. 70 minutes against 10-men, we’d waste time in the same situation, and we couldn’t find the second goal. Lots of huffing, puffing and effort but ultimately not good enough again. No pressure Lyle..
So that’s just 2 points from 9 and a different mood is enveloping us now to that of a few weeks ago as Luton look unstoppable and Barnsley are putting a very nice run together.

It’s back. That exhausting, nerves wrecked, voice croaky feeling. And I only watched it on iFollow!
Brilliant result yesterday, with the players putting in a phenomenal amount of effort. It wasn’t a great game, with few chances, but we won because we wanted it more. We rode our luck, got a goal of Jason Pearce’s arse, Ben Amos made a couple of vital saves, and all through, The Valley was a wall of noise.

And a stuttering and often ugly performance tonight but 3 very valuable points against what I was thought was a very decent Rochdale team, playing with a style far better than their league position indicates.
I watched for the first time on EFL’s iFollow service, which allows overseas fans to watch live games. Charlton remember don’t subscribe to iFollow but almost all of our League One opponents do and for a fiver for a match pass I thought it was good. No commentary just live pictures and atmosphere, although there was a delay in the sound, but I’d recommend it, if you are able to take advantage. By the way I would encourage you take this CAFC media team’s survey on their Valley Pass service.
Karl Robinson has talked about Mark Marshall and Ben Reeves like the coming of the new messiah’s. Reeves missed the whole of pre-season and was signed horribly unfit and with December around the corner he has only played about 120 minutes of league football. Marshall was more unfortunate getting injured in pre-season, and only started his first league game at home to MK Dons on Saturday.
Any news of further incomings appears to have slowed, although the ‘we are working hard behind the scenes’ mantra was rolled out again this week by Karl Robinson, who also stated that he expected no one else to leave. This alone may stifle any additions to the squad as no one really expected the likes of Naby Sarr, Tony Watt or perhaps even Karlan Ahearne-Grant to still be here, although it is best to remember that the transfer window has another 5 weeks, so still plenty of time for movement both ways.
The apparently much sought after Mark Marshall became our second signing, and the second one from Bradford, today.
The 30-year old has had a journeyman career in the lower leagues but really came to age at Bradford and on paper at least is a very decent signing. According to Karl Robinson “he can play off both feet, he’s quick, he’s a winger and he’s aggressive in everything he does. He’s from London and he wants to play for Charlton.”
All good. If only we can keep Ricky Holmes as well….
