Forgotten man
I was wondering what had happened to Rob Apter. His name had not been mentioned by the club for a while, but now we know.
“Rob Apter is set for an extended spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on a knee injury. The winger will now begin his rehabilitation with the club’s medical team.” (more)
He injured his knee in a pre-season friendly. He bruised a bone in the game in Slovenia against NK Maribor, which was 3 months ago. That put pay to any summer transfer move for the 22-year old.
Apter did play the whole game against Tottenham in the Cup and came on as a late sub at Stoke.
Now surgery will see him out for a while, probably after January, so another place in the 25-man squad that has been wasted. One can only assume that plenty of tests and medical advice appeared to righted any issues, but surgery became the best route for complete repair.
It has been a tough time at Charlton for Apter. He has played just 15 times since his move in the summer of 2025.

Carrying an injury may well explain why he looked so awful in the two games that he has featured this season.
It’s a shame for all involved. His Charlton career has never really taken off, and considering that the RW position this season is a problem for us, you would have thought that this was his opportunity to lay a claim on it.
Feeling like another case of what might have been…
