Gillesphey signs for Bradford City
Bradford unveiled the signing of Macauley Gillesphey this morning.
He signed an initial 2-year deal for an undisclosed fee. The very best of luck to him. Bradford have signed a good man.
His goal at Wembley and even when I saw him for myself come as sub against Blackburn last season at The Valley and play like Gabriel Magalhães for 70 minutes will long stick in the memory.
Sadly though at times last season he had our hearts in our mouths at this level, and Jones who completely transformed him after he came to the club, knew it, and no doubt Macca knew it too.
It’s a good move for Gillesphey, the Bantams style will suit him and I’m sure they will be competing at the top end of League One again next season.
Gillesphey has twice been promoted from League One, and made 109 appearances for the Addicks across all competitions and scored eight goals.
Gillesphey said: “The play-off semi-final against Wycombe was obviously special, but for me to be the one to score the winner at Wembley in front of nearly 40,000 Addicks is something me and my family will always treasure.”
Best of luck Macca.

A very good assessment !
Will always be in our memories and hearts x
Top man macca, struggled at times last season but a awesome game at the riverside alongside Coady will always go down in Charlton history for that goal
Great player Great man always put in a good shift but unfortunately just couldn’t make the grade in the championship we will miss you Macca good luck for Bradford
All Charlton fans should wish him well. An honest footballer who put in a decent shift but found the Championship a bridge too far.
Well said, Alan.
Well done Macca. Glad he’s got a decent move. I’m sure all of us Addicks wish him and his family well for the future. Best of luck with the move to Bradford, and maybe another promotion ???
The assist of an assist helped create the goal that got us to the play-off Final – he always had that creative pass in him. But sadly he was too slow and not physical enough for the Championship. But he never stopped trying.
Like Pat Bauer he made himself a Charlton legend with that Wembley goal.
