Big Billy Koumetio in the building
Signing number two. As anticipated 6ft 5 centre-back Billy Koumetio has signed for the Addicks from Dundee for an undisclosed fee, thought to be in the region of £500,000.
The 23-year old was born in Lyon, France but moved to England when he was 15 and came up through Liverpool’s academy. He signed for Dundee 2 years ago.
Billy said: “When he (Jones) spoke to me about the project he has for me, it was quite convincing. From that day when I spoke to him, I realised this was the best move I could make for my career.”
Koumetio has signed a 4-year contract at The Valley .
Predominantly left-footed but he can play either side as a centre-back, he looks as if he has all the attributes that Nathan Jones looks for and are needed at Championship level.
Bienvenue, Billy.

So, I’m guessing that Alex & Zach Mitchell will be on the move, and probably a loan move for Gough(?), that leaves us with Jones, Sichenje, Bell, Koumetio, Ramsey & Burke as our centre-halves, with Mesik and Edwards at left-back. Once we have a right-back through the door, you’d have thought that the defence will be done!
It’s started to get exciting!
There are 6 Congo players out of contract can we sign all of them plus John stones 😀
😀
On the social media platforms, he is highly regarded by the Dundee fans. He certainly fits the bill, tall, strong and left footed. Some injury concerns apparently but a dynamic player.
With fees being paid, and some players moving out and more rumoured to leave, it appears to be a sensible approach by the board. I am astonished that Stoke can pay £10 million on Galbraith.. but not surprised as those extra play-offs places are a big financial carrot for clubs. I don’t think we are finished yet, focus now hopefully will be on the midfield.
Welcome Billy what i hear from a friend Dundee fan on a good day he is excellent but have made a few silly mistakes also lets hope NJ can help this player develop 2 midfielders and a prolific goal scorer should do the trick nicely.. COYR
A really good signing…
Someone for Miles Leaburn to chat too I suppose.
This looks like some good business, a typical Charlton signing, some good pedigree there and he can job share with Amari’i Bell and take over from him in a season or so. For the fee (circa £500k) we could well have a player who’ll be worth several times that in a couple of years.
