Karoy Anderson to Blackpool
A few rumours out there, I wouldn’t say lots, started by people that can’t help themselves about the club’s finances, the owners and Nathan Jones’ mood.
I would not believe any of it until someone like Rich Cawley speaks. It is really difficult to get any information out of the club, especially since Charlie Methven left.
Talking of Rich Cawley, he wrote today that Blackpool are in discussion with Karoy Anderson about signing him on a permanent.
Anderson, 21, still has two years left to run on his contract with the Addicks, and I would think a transfer would suit both parties.
Anderson is still developing and has almost 100 appearances under his belt and 19 international caps, so he still has a lot of upside. He is a fine athlete, and team player and clearly Seasiders’ boss Ian Evatt was smitten.
Anderson played 18 times for Blackpool under Evatt on loan last season as they hit promotion form in the last quarter of the season.
A fee with a sell-on would do the trick I’d imagine.
Jones likes Anderson but if he is going to be true to his word, then sadly Anderson is not good enough for The Championship at this time, and there is no point stockpiling academy players that aren’t.
He’s a battler but not at championship level, but still has room to grow. If we can get a 6 figure deal…take it
It would be a beneficial move for Karoy that would suit both clubs, hes a really promising player and would do well at Blackpool.
Ian Evatt is a tactical manager who will develop Kayroy to better standards suiting his current level of ability. I’ve watched him many times and he’s a diamond that just needs a polish.
Players like karoy Anderson need first team football to progress and I think a move to Blackpool playing every week can only benefit his career, served us well in our promotion season, as for rumours living up here in Manchester I don’t get a lot but it’s rumour season and I don’t believe anything about finance and nathen Jones unless it’s official. The owners and Gavin carter are not likely to throw all the good work over the past 3 season away We need to off load some players as well bringing players in coyr
So what are the rumours abbot cafc finances? Ive not seen anything at all.
That the owners have pulled or reduced the transfer budget and Jones has had a strop about it.
I should imagine that happens every year with Nathan, he is very likely playing poker with the board!!
I would consider giving Karoy another loan but there is no way I would selling him. He is still progressing and I saw enough from a young age to think he could be better than anything we are able to purchase. IMHO, he is already better than Connor Cov, who is the one to sell (reached his ceiling and simply not quick enough for the Championship, in body and mind).

He could easily become a £1 million + minimum player in the next year or two

Completely the wrong type of player to sell. He would be invaluable to come off the bench and close down the opposition when we are trying to protect a lead. His value will only go up in the medium term and we would be making a huge mistake to get rid of him
We always sell to early loan him out again he will come back to haunt us later if we sell him now
The thing with Karoy is that he’s yet to find his niche in our midfield. At Academy level he was a box to box midfielder but at first team level that is a job that will take some time for him to mature into. In the meantime he hasn’t quite done well enough in other midfield roles. At other times he’s been a bit too easy to bounce off the ball.
I’d prefer another loan – perhaps to a club that will play him in the role that Charlton see as his best fit in the first team and then bring him back when he’s got that experience and when he’s gained a bit more strength.
