Ed Warrick departs
The club has announced that Ed Warwick has left the club “to pursue other opportunities.”
A short and sweet announcement for a man who had a significant role behind the scenes. He joined as part of the Senior Management Team three years ago alongside Jim Rodwell, Charlie Methven and Simon Lenagan.
Warwick leaves as Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer and board member. He’d used his LinkedIn profile a lot in recent months to positively speak about the actions of the club, so I am little surprised as his leaving, but these things do happen.
The club are still light of a CEO, so this leaves the operational side short but Tony Brown will lead the club’s finance department as Interim Chief Financial Officer.
Brown looks to have been given an initiation period. He is very qualified having worked in football finance for over two decades.
He was CFO at Portsmouth for 12 years but left 10 months ago with glowing references.
At the time Pompey Chairman Michael Eisner said: “I was impressed with Tony the day I met him in 2017 and Tony was a part of the reason I felt comfortable with the acquisition of the Portsmouth Football Club.
“He has demonstrated expert oversight of all things financial at the club since that date, as well as his excellent advice on all things football. I wish him well in his assured success going forward.”
Brown is a big Everton fan apparently and we’ll see what else develops to the board which only exists now of Gavin Carter and Jim Rodwell plus Paul Elliott and recent addition as Non-Executive Director, Richard Law.

A very interesting situation….it seems a little odd that Warwick has left….does he know something we don’t about the finances available for the coming season ?
Or do the investor group want their own man. That original senior management group only has Rodwell left now. And his role is significantly different to what it was.
Sometimes people simply leave one job for another because their new employers are offering a pay rise and better career prospects. That might be the case here and it’s something I’ve done as have millions of other people.
At least this happening in the close season so it minimises disruption and we have someone in already with industry experience and good credentials.
If I’m a conspiracy theorist then it’s possibly down to SE7 Partners wanting their man in charge of finances.
Good luck to Ed though, he seemed a good bloke.
Very true SP. An ambitious young man seeking the next level on the ladder. His LinkedIn announcement looked a friendly parting of the waves.
He did come across a good bloke.
